Tom Coughlin and Eli beat Brady twice.

Zac Taylor and Joe Cool beat Mahomes once.

Nobody is saying they're infallible, but beating them is usually a very difficult task. Shanahan has been on the short end of the stick, but he's not losing to just anyone.

This is just an excuse. Nobody gives Karl Malone a pass because he faced MJ in his only two NBA Finals appearances. If you lose, you lose. Period.

Nobody gives Malone a pass because he's generally an unlikeable person. Nobody speaks favorably of that Utah team because it was easy to hate Malone and Stockton.

Other people from that era - Barkley, Ewing, Reggie Miller - don't get flack for not winning mostly because they had the MJ era in front of them.

Brutal.

This one isn't the same as the others though.

They were up 10-0 in the second, and the very next possession the Chiefs had after going down 10-0, they made it 10-3 and then got the ball back after half (nothing resulted from that, but just showing how thin that was).

The 10 point thing is going to be a talking point, but it's a dumb one in this game.

He’s running into an all time dynasty. Not really his fault.

This year's Chiefs team was not good (offensively). He had a 10 point lead and just, like, did the exact same thing that lost him the game against NE when it was 28-3. Nothing about a "dynasty" there. This wasn't just a buzzsaw like the 2013 Seahawks he ran into. This was an extremely beatable team that he had a 2 score lead on and crapped it away because that's what he does.

So did anyone running into Michael Jordan's, Wayne Gretzky's, and Babe Ruth's teams. Nobody gives their opponents a pass for failure.

This is just an excuse. When you win, you're GOAT material. If you don't, you're just another good player/coach.

But not to the team that LOST.

Ok, so... this happened, right?

And they still get paid:

$89,000 - not bad for a game.

Maybe Shanahan should've gone for 4th down more.

No I'm not salty that Campbell got clowned on for his aggression.

The fact is Kyle shouldn’t have let it get to so many 4th downs. Those 2nd and 3rd down play calls before the 4th’s were mid at best.

They may not get as much flak as Malone, but they're not exactly given a whole lot of excuses either. Nobody has Barkley or Ewing as Top 10 players all time.

This one isn't on Kyle, though I don't think he was particularly good in this game. I thought he was mostly fine, but like a C or D performance.

Like sometimes there is just some execution problems. 2 misses by purdy deep (well, maybe one...aiyuk may have just lost the other). Lost fumble by CMC when they were driving. Muffed punt that cost them the lead. Blocked XP. Like that's just not on him so people have to stop with that nonsense.

and then he made arguably the biggest go for it decision of his career....and it worked which resulted in a TD rather than a Fg.

That said, their relative confusion at Spags' blitzing on third down was weird. Some of the playcalling I don't agree with. I've said it before that this is a passing team and people just refuse to acknowledge that, but they needed to probably be more run heavy in this one and there was a stretch where they just weren't. Giving up that possession at the end of the half was critical.
