But only 5 corners

Yes I have only 5 corners make the team because I feel guys like Moreau, Shelley, McCain, Ward or Jaylin Williams or even Nashon Wright even though Wright not sure he is worth even keeping on the practice squad... all of those guys could make the practice squad without much issue or fear of being signed by someone else.  Could even add Najee Thompson to that list also of guys who could maybe make the practice squad.  So then if a CB goes down one can call one of them up most likely Shelley, McCain or Moreau.

If Lewis Cine was cut he would be signed by another team so not sure it is worth that risk so I had them keep 5 safeties and 5 corners but they do play a lot of 3 safety looks where the 3rd safety is basically the slot corner.

If they instead got rid of Dwight McGlothern he would be picked up by another team and same could be said for Akayleb Evans.  McGlothern has been really solid in the preseason and is well worth a spot on the 53 man roster I feel.

Gabriel Murphy they could maybe hid him on the practice squad once he gets healthy again because he never really did flash in the preseason and most of his work as at camp or in the joint practices.  But I guess a team could spot him in the practices and sign him off the practice squad as well but not super likely since he never did really play like that in a game during the preseason.  Ritcher no question will be signed by someone else if cut, Owen Porter not as likely though so he could make the practice squad.

The DL is hard, Redmond I liked what he showed but could make the PS, Roy as well possibly.  Jonah Williams maybe keep him around but I still say they play with the numbers and if they count Ward as a DL then it should be fine and really he has the size for the position just is a standup guy and not as often with his hand in the dirt.

Offense (25)

QB (3): Darnold, Mullens, and Hall

  • Hall earned his spot yesterday and gave me a little more confidence in him possibly being QB2 next year. Wouldn't mind Corral on the PS. (1/17)

RB (4): Jones, Chandler, Nwangwu, and Ham

  • Gaskins/McBride to PS (3/17)

WR (6): Jefferson, Addison, Nailor, Powell, T. Jackson, and Sherfield

  • L. Jackson to PS (4/17)

TE (3): Oliver, Mundt, and Muse

  • Hock for Muse upon return, Harry to PS (5/17)

OL (9): Darrisaw, Brandel, Bradbury, Ingram, O'Neill, Rouse, Quessenberry, Feeney, and Robinson

  • Risner isn't healthy and I noticed that Rouse kicked down inside for a little bit yesterday. Robinson can play either OG spot and Feeney can be back up OC. Given the lack of interest in Risner I think he could make the PS, Jurgens as well (7/17)

Defense (25)

DL (6): Phillips, Bullard, Tillery, J. Williams, LDR, and Taimani

  • Roy and Redmond to PS (9/17)

EDGE (6): Greenard, AVG, Turner, Jones II, Ward, and Carter II

  • Lots of juice here but rushing the passer will help this defense. Murphy to IR and Richter to PS. (10/17)

LB (3): Cashman, Pace Jr., and KGH

  • Asamoah, Gant and Porter to PS (13/17)

DB (10): Gilmore, Griffin, Murphy Jr., Evans, McGlothern, Smith, Bynum, Metellus, T. Jackson, and Cine

  • Moreau, Shelley, and Ward to PS (16/17)

Specialists (3): Reichard, Wright, and DePaola

Practice Squad (16/17): Corral, Gaskins, McBride, L. Jackson, Risner, Jurgens, Roy, Redmond, Richter, Asamoah, Gant, Porter, Moreau, Shelley, and Ward.

I don't think putting Jay Ward, Jac Roy or Bo Richter on the practice squad is a good move at all.

I'm not sure what Lewis Cine has done to warrant a spot. Being a 1st round pick might be his one and only saving grace.

Sherfield probably isn't needed. I'd rather keep another guy on the front 7 instead of a 6th receiver.

And finally, when the NFL expanded to 17 games, why didn't they expand the active rosters from 53 to 55? Expanding the PS was a good first step but I think more should have been done.

Ward and Roy have done/shown next to nothing and are at best replacement level players. We appear to have great depth at EDGE which makes Richter to the PS a gamble, perhaps they look to move your PITT boy Jones II?!

You won't get much push back from me and I'm still on the fence with him. The two penalties (?) yesterday hurt. However, I'm willing to gamble on the draft status for another season. Especially with Harrison contemplating retirement and Bynum a free agent.

Yeah, I'm not sure who the inactives would be on game day but I imagine WR6 would be one of them.

That would've been nice, just like it'd be nice if the entire roster could be active on game days.

Taimani I have seen others keep him on the roster also, curious as to why honestly.  At least Jonah Williams if kept has been a player and has started in the NFL, not sure the reason to keeping Taimani, he has not flashed nearly as often as Rodriguez.

And keeping Feeney over Jurgens I would not mind, it is just I think Jurgens would be long gone if put on the practice squad.  Same with Cine or Ritcher for that matter.

I agree with keeping Hall, he played great yesterday and again not sure he would make the practice squad and not be picked up.  Same possibly for Asamoah, so unless they want Van Ginkel as a 4th ILB backup type keeping four would make sense possibly.

Taimani is the backup nose competing with the likes of Roy where as LDR is competing for playing time at one of the 5T spots, at least that is how I see it.

It is a gamble no doubt, I like Jurgens potential but I think Feeney is the better play right now should something happen to Bradbury. I love that they gave Jurgens lots of run, perhaps partially due to Risner and Feeney being injured? I wouldn't be upset if they kept Jurgens over Feeney either, perhaps Feeney is an easier sell to the PS? Richter would be a tough loss, from a potential perspective, but that speaks to the depth we have at EDGE and that's a good thing.

ILB depth was a concern of mine, nice to have the swiss army knife in Metellus to help fill that void. I like Sherfield at WR6 but perhaps Asamoah at ILB4 makes more sense from a roster construction perspective?

If it came down to keeping Sherfield or Asamoah not sure what I would do but honestly I would bet they can keep both as long as they cut some of those CBs who could easily find their way to the practice squad I feel.  I would gladly cut Taimani and keep either Sherfield or Asamoah though.

Taimani is highest rated rookie DT per PFF. Not sure how much stock I put in that but someone thinks he's doing something right.

Sherfield is less than a JAG. I'd take defensive depth with potential over a WR6.

With you for the most part, but I think they'd be more inclined to keep Evans over Richter, Ward, or Sherfield.

Agreed - Nobody is signing Bo Richter off our PS to their 53, however I'm sure there would be a corner needy team to sign Evans off our practice squad.

I just don’t think Evans fits in the defense. He wasn’t good last year, and he’s struggled a lot this summer. He’s a zone defender, not someone built for man coverage. It’s time to move on.

I think we should try to trade him. We might not get much but in the right system he's at least capable.
