Mandatory Minicamp (6.4 - 6.6) | OTAs (6.10 - 6.13)

Recommended Posts

Minnesota began its Organized Team Activity practices with versatile veteran Blake Brandel at left guard with the first-team grouping of LT Christian Darrisaw, C Garrett Bradbury, RG Ed Ingram and RT Brian O'Neill. In this week's session that was open to media members, veteran Dan Feeney was in at left guard for some reps with the first group.

Strange that mandatory minicamp is 6/4 to 6/6 and then they have another session of OTA's 6/10 to 6/13.

"Minnesota's schedule is different than previous years in that mandatory minicamp has been scheduled before the final week of OTAs."

i still hold that Jetts will get his extension right before his birthday on June 14. it's a friday, so that weekend will be get down and party, with him picking up the tab.

McCarthy and Hall often are in the huddle together with 10 other players, showing the importance of being able to relay the plays in the huddle. Whoever is not taking that rep then takes a few steps back from the play and watches intently.

Probably the best OTA QB I’ve ever seen. That throw was ridiculously good 😊 😂

Better than Sloter? 😉

From KOC's press conference today...we have a new development...another new TE, yet a familiar name at another position...your newest new TE...N'Keal Harry.

Soooo Harry will be one of the first players to be cut. Vikings TE room is stacked.

WR room is pretty lackluster after Jefferson and Addison. We should cut Harry now and bring in a veteran WR

O’Connell noted that starting tight end T.J. Hockenson is still recovering from a torn ACL, and it’s been helpful to have Harry as another tight end in the offseason program. Whether Harry can play the tight end position well enough to make the regular-season roster remains to be seen.

Harry is pretty light for a TE (based on ESPN data, he's 225 pounds). But he's definitely athletic enough to be a mismatch for linebackers. I don't expect that he'll make the 53 man roster, but he could end up on the practice squad while he learns the position and bulks up.

Throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp, all 32 teams must abide by the set of guidelines set up by the NFL Players' Association. Among those guidelines is that "contact work" is not allowed, and "intensity and tempo of drills should be at a level conducive to learning, with player safety as the highest priority."

O'Connell appreciates the way the team has abided by the rules and kept it top-of-mind to enter the summer break healthy.

O'Connell: "It is a unique time of year where you're truly not as competitive as we'll be when training camp begins – when we can have pads on and the Guardian Caps and everything. So we have a mantra of taking care of each other out here. We still had a very competitive spring for it being a learning phase, especially in the passing game in those 7-on-7 periods. But there are still a few days to go, so I don't want to celebrate too early, but it's been a very productive spring, and we've been able to keep our guys coming back out there every day and working."

They'd be better off signing an actual TE off the street vet minimum than getting Harry to play TE if they need another TE during mini camp, training camp and pre-season. After Hockenson we've got Oliver, Mudnt, Muse, Tonyan, Knox and then Harry coming in at TE7 with zero experience playing the position.

Real waste of time & a roster spot in my opinion

He might have been an even bigger waste at WR though.

With Hockenson out, we have 2 TE spots that are wide open. Might as well see what Harry can do.
