The only problem is the money. They only have about 27 million in projected cap space. Kirk's first year cap hit is likely to be very close to that.  They'd have to make some creative moves. They have 23 low level free agents, so some of that will eat space, a rookie class to sign, and the roster isn't perfect. The offensive line needs help in the worst way. Some moves could be made, but it would require shedding some talent that still plays well. Most would probably come from the cb position. They can save 11 million from talib, almost 9 from Roby. Emanuel sanders would shed almost 6.

A bigger problem is Dan Snyder. The most petty man on the planet could very well sacrifice the well being of the franchise by keeping Kirk shackled in Washington via another tagging.

"Kirk as a team we're going to be miserable moving forward, but so will you!!!!!!"

I'd love to add talib here but he doesn't seem like a Lynch type of guy. I'd bet he ends up in KC if they cut him, or maybe back to NE.

Emanuel Sanders fits Kyles system but I don't think we will be looking to add that type of receiver in FA.

If Ben retires, I think Kirk will end up a steeler. I think Alex would work there as well but he has struggled mightily against them so maybe they don't think highly of him. I also think that KC will go deep this year and that they will be forced to bring Alex back for one+ season

No to Talib. Don't want dirtbags grabbing other people's chains on the sidelines and shoving their own teammates.

Great game. Lots of help from the Jags in this one, but we've been helping out teams all year with dumb penalties. About time some team returned the favor. Love this win.

I think it looks good on us that the Jags got frustrated enough that we got that "help" towards the end.  It's the same thing Seattle does when they are losing a game.

I'm watching the end of the game that I missed last night, after the Hyde touchdown. A lot of us, me included have wanted to find a lockdown corner so that our D can be respectable, but honestly, Spoon might just turn into that great of a player. He's so smooth, and always there for the tackle. I think he can easily be our #1. We absolutely need another guy. If there's stud there in the first, pull the trigger, sure, but if not, I'm sure we can find someone later on to fill that #2 role. There are positions I feel that if we don't address it early with a potential stud, it's not even worth addressing at all. If we're to add a WR, I want it to be a #1. If we're just adding a depth player, I'm not really interested, I'm fine with what we have. If we had another pass rusher, I'd like him to be explosive and a game-changer, not just another body, we have those. But at corner, I think we can afford improving depth and just solidifying that #2 spot, and hope Spoon keeps getting better (I already feel he's playing great. Not rookie Marcus Peters-great, but not far behind). With an improved pass rush, no doubt this defense can be special.

The question I have on my mind, and it popped up when thinking about trading Robinson away: do we have cancers still on the roster? Aaron Lynch, maybe? Maybe not a cancer, but has the potential to turn into one. This team has great chemistry right now (but winning has a tendency to do that). I wonder if the coaching staff will tolerate a certain level of cancer potential, if the talent backs it up, or if John Lynch will just end up getting rid of these altogether. I feel like he valued personality and character a lot. This year, he got rid of Robinson, who was a hot head. He released Ahmad Brooks, who I haven't been a fan of the character for a few years. He kept Robinson for a while, because the talent kinda justified it. I feel like it's not going to be the last character-related transaction Lynch makes.

Who are the really high character guys we're likely to pick in the first this year?

Akhello was a true lockdown #1 yesterday, i'm with you that there was a flash of what he could be next year. But Dontae Johnson was so awful that it proved to me having someone that bad on the field can cost us games. I've noticed the trend of high character guys too, even Foster who people bad mouthed in the draft has been a real positive and inspiring voice. Minkah Fitzpatrick was a finalist for the Jason Witten man of the year award so he might fit that bill. Another guy for a later round pick is Blaise Taylor DB/return man Arkansas State. Check out his list of accomplishments:

Blaise Taylor (Sr., CB, Arkansas State) – The exceptional cornerback and return specialist is the only current FBS player to have earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree before the start of his senior season. The highly-decorated student-athlete makes those around him better, having created a non-profit with his sister to help disadvantaged children.Team captain . . . NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class (1 of 13) . . . William V. Campbell Trophy Finalist . . . Wuerffel Trophy Semifinalist . . . Senior CLASS Award candidate . . . Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee . . . Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award nominee . . . Hornung Award Watch List . . . Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week (10/30) . . . 1st Team Preseason All-Sun Belt (return specialist) . . . 2nd Team Preseason All-Sun Belt (defensive back) . . . Athlon, Phil Steele’s & College Sports Madness 1st Team Preseason All-Sun Belt (punt returner) . . . Ranked fourth in the nation average punt return yards per attempt at 17.1

Holy hell, I never knew that about Taylor. That's impressive as all get out.

I've been on the Spoon ? train for a while. I said it a few months sgo, he is a flat out natural in coverage. The way he flips his hips is textbook and he never panics when the ball is thrown his way. And he has been sticking his helmet in the run game all season long. He does need to get stronger and I'd like to see him get more physical at the LOS. Right now he is like a Marcus Peters type of corner who prefers to play seven or so yards off the receiver. Which is fine but you have to be a great play maker to pull it off consistently. With his size and recovery speed, it will be a shame if he can't become at least decent in bump n run coverage.

But we definitely need someone good opposite of him. I'm fine with Williams and Ward being able to play nickel. Fuller,  Johnson or Prince would be good while we draft another one in the draft.

Not sure I'm totally in on spending money on Johnson. But Prince, Fuller or moving Ward (if he's willing) back to corner seem like some really solid options as well. Regardless, we should be adding as much talent there as possible.

I don't think anyone wants to spend money on Dontae Johnson. A bunch of us are already willing to drive him to the airport. But yeah, I'd prioritize a FA like Prince too. He would be a perfect #2 for our defense.
