What I can see happening is exactly what happened with Favre when he went to Minnesota.

Aaron would play lights out, have literally the best year of his career (as Favre did in Minnesota), get all the way to the AFC Championship game in his first year, only for the exact same thing to happen to Rodgers. He gets knocked out of the postseason again. The Packers have a bad year, 5-6 wins.

The next year the Packers would make it to the playoffs, lose early in a heartbreaker.

Then three years from now, it all comes together, the Packers win the Super Bowl, and Rodgers retires.

Is it that bad to trade him to NFC North ?

If you want him traded then you must think the picks and cap space are worth more than Rodgers. On that basis you must think its a bad deal for the other side. So maybe trading in the NFC North isn't such a bad thing.

Plus, whoever trades for Rodgers is better short term, maybe weaker long term. In that scenario we are probably not competing in 22 to hopefully be able to gear up for another run long term. So maybe having a rival strong around the time we are rebuilding (and weaker when we have reloaded) isn't a bad thing.

If you took sentiment out of it (which is impossible I guess) then trading him to NFC North might be the best move sporting wise. If you believe that the picks and cap space are more valuable than Rodgers.

agree, Mike.  The goal is for us to get better.  I'd rather get a better package within the division than a lesser package elsewhere.  And as you note, if a division rival is giving away long-term Buildican value for short-term Nowacrat gain, that benefits our Buildican chances within the division.

I agree that they won't do it, in reality.  But I think that in the hypothetical, that it shouldn't be logically precluded.

I think Rodgers signs a team friendly deal and in exchange he's gets some input on offensive personnel.  He's not running the draft but similar to getting Cobb last year, he'll get some say with MLF and Gute on POSSIBLE FA acquisitions.  Is he going to get that anywhere else??  Maybe?

A "help us build around you" approach to Rodgers.  He gets a seat at the offense table for his final years and helps with the retooling.   Pitch that to him and see what he says.

Why would he ever do this? He has never shown any interest at ever doing this…

He will not do this at all. If he gets resign, it will be at market rate. And if it ends in playoff disappointment, people will still blame the team for not doing enough.

Unless the package is significantly better then the rest, yes.  And I don't see Chicago being interested, and I'd venture a guess that Detroit probably isn't an option anyways.

Rodgers will nix a trade to anywhere he doesn’t want to go.  No one is taking him on the remainder of his contract.  If he tells a team he won’t sign there’s no trade.  And he can also just retire at any time. To re-sign him or trade him, and get a good return, will require his cooperation.

So we find another HOF out of this world QB?

What do you offer MVS? Wouldn't mind having him back for his role considering we have no one else like him, but he's also a just 26 rec guy who was injured a lot this year. It would have to be a pretty cheap deal...

What did JuJu get? I’d imagine he would be inline for that… and if he is interested in a multi year security they can add more money. But that would seem like a reasonable contract.
