I don't know why Zim would want to be there...yes they have great players...but a head coach looking over his shoulder all season...and an owner who is also the GM...who loves to stir the pot. Unhealthy work place.

I can't see McCarthy doing that to a veteran like Zimmer regardless if he was "his" guy or not. Do we know if he was that way with Quinn? Zimmer should be a set it and forget it type of DC hire with the HC checking in for high level discussions IMO.

vike daddy
The Vikings drafted Jerick McKinnon in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Georgia Southern. Anthony Barr was their first pick that year, and Teddy Bridgewater followed him. Scott Crichton flamed out before getting started, and McKinnon is still going. Arguably the best player from that class, McKinnon spent four seasons with Minnesota before being with both of this year’s Super Bowl teams. One season with the San Francisco 49ers, with work as their starter, led to McKinnon taking a role in the Kansas City Chiefs backfield. This was his third season working with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, and he has done an exceptional job providing value while not being the main ball carrier at any point. Having started just 18 of his 116 career regular season games, McKinnon has never been the guy, but he has always been one of the guys. His ability to prop up teammates and provide leadership is something that both the Vikings and Chiefs have benefitted from. He represents a glue guy type in a locker room, and having those sorts of personalities on Super Bowl-winning teams is not a coincidence. McKinnon will be 32 years old next season, and while he doesn’t have a highlight reel worth of NFL exploits, he has a pair of flashy rings for his fingers, which has been pretty cool to see. https://vikingsterritory.com/2024/news/analysis/mckinnon-rides?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

vike daddy
Dan Quinn is bringing Sharrif Floyd with him to Washington. Quinn, the new Commanders head coach, was Floyd’s boss in Dallas last year and will be his boss in Washington as well. Floyd is being hired as assistant defensive line coach of the Commanders, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/commanders-hire-sharrif-floyd-as-assistant-defensive-line-coach

vike daddy
Mike Zimmer is back with the Cowboys as their defensive coordinator, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to bring a longtime assistant of his from Minnesota with him to his new job. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Giants have denied the Cowboys permission to interview defensive line coach Andre Patterson. Patterson has spent the last two years on Brian Daboll’s staff with the Giants and he was on Zimmer’s staff in Minnesota before joining the NFC East team. He was on the Vikings staff for Zimmer’s entire eight-year run and was assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator by the end of his run with the club. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/giants-deny-cowboys-permission-to-interview-andre-patterson
vike daddy
The Saints had to wait until the Super Bowl was over to finalize the hiring of their new offensive coordinator, but the move is now official. Klint Kubiak was announced as the team’s new offensive coordinator on Wednesday. Kubiak had been the 49ers’ passing game specialist, which is why the Saints had to wait until now to seal the deal. Kubiak spent the 2021 season as the offensive coordinator for the Vikings and he was with the Broncos in 2022. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/saints-announce-klint-kubiak-as-offensive-coordinator
