They are probably getting much more money now than they would over the rest of their lifetimes. It also makes a lot of sense for estate planning. Much easier to give descendants a lump sum instead of forcing them to manage contracts, royalties, etc.. yeah, i don't see anything wrong with it either. just the final payout for their life's work, it's deserved.

vike daddy
Sutherland was both a prolific and immensely talented actor. he played roles ranging from acerbic surgeon to weak, grieving father to mentally disturbed arsonist to college professor diddling his coed students to detectives to greedy dotcom entrepreneurs to Hunger Game president to Jesus himself. he was incredibly entertaining to watch on the screen, and played all his roles to the hilt. a true actor, one who immersed himself in his craft, and left audiences to believe he had transformed to someone else. for those of us who became socially aware in the 1970's, Donald Sutherland was always there with us, through all the subsequent years.

cconocool
I was looking for Bryant McKinnie's first game where he gave up a sack on the very first play. It was a bit bizarre, because he never gave one up in college.
swede700
I knew about the Bobby Bonilla thing (who last played in 2001 and is now 61 yrs old), but I did not know the others... Griffey last played in 2010 (last played for the Reds in '08) and Ramirez hasn't played since 2011 (and also since 2008 for the Sawx). Another fun fact....Griffey was the 2nd highest paid player on the Reds last year. 😂 Edited July 1 by swede700

I believe he negotiated with them and they paid him out early so they could get out of the annuity payments several years ago. SemperFeist
To all the construction gurus and DIYers, I am looking to install closet doors in our master bedroom. Unfortunately the finished doorframe is 73 1/2” wide. Too wide for any standard closet doors, which seem to be for a 72” frame. My question, would it be better to remove the frame and shim 3/4” on each side? Or would it be better to remove one side of the frame, and nail a 1x4 to the rough frame to make up the difference?
