Love it!

That's a solid signing.  They're going to have to move some people to get under the luxury tax now though.  Green could replace Morris in the starting lineup so I wonder if he gets shopped now.

I’ll be shocked if Morris is shopped.

It feels more and more like they’re saving that MLE to try to land Dwight Howard once he’s

^^ post I stopped in the middle of this morning and came up in my “reply” box when I opened it up to post the articles about the Wiz signing Dwight Howard to the full MLE.

In some ways, he’s a great fit — world class rebounding, especially, and still a good defender with elite size in the middle. He’ll benefit from Wall’s ability to create buckets for him, and the knowledge that there will be easy flushes waiting on him at the end of pick and roll sets might be enough to inspire him to actually work on the offensive end.

In some ways, he’s a terrible fit. He clogs up the floor on offense because he refuses to vacate the paint area to allow driving lanes, and we’ll be even worse in defending stretch big men. Plus, he’s a complete pain in the *** who is being added to a team that is not exactly running over with chemistry and tolerable players.

Given their salary situation, I don’t think we could have expected much better in terms of an addition at center.

They have to do something.  Wall's salary spikes next year and if they don't get under the luxury tax this year they'll start getting hammered with repeater tax.

Morris is an expiring contract. If they want to cut salary, move someone other than you’re 4th best player.

Years ago I didn’t want Howard, but then he proved he could stay healthy and still be a double double machine who could protect the paint.

I certainly don’t love Dwight Howard but I’d rather have him than Marcin Gortat. Wall throwing lobs to Dwight is going to be impossible to stop by most teams. Howard can guard other teams seven footers, he gives us a dimension the team has lacked for as long as I can remember, maybe in my whole lifetime since the Bullets had Unseld.

I know you liked Gortat because he did some things well, but this is clearly an upgrade over Gortat and Mahinmi. I just hope his teammates can mesh with him and put up with his aloofness and goofy ness. Hopefully, since he’s playing on a playoff team once again with two All-Stars that gets him to be more serious than in years past.

If Dwight acts right, and the Wizards are more lucky than they were last year then I can see them being contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Look at their roster and find another solution.  They’re way over the luxury line.

I’d pay it. If they want to be a contender in the EC they’re going to have to keep him. He’s their 4th best player - maybe 5th best now that Dwight is here.

Depending on what happens this year we’ll see what happens about his future.

That’s foolish.  They will be crippled next year when Walls contract spikes.

Trading Morris when he’s an expiring contract next year seems foolish too. There’s other guys they could dump but I wouldn’t include Morris.
