Do vertical and broad jumps influence our picks?

Goodness knows this team needs more explosive athletes. I'm all for it, especially in the mid to late rounds. As long as those measurables are being applied to the 1st/2nd round guys who are also good football players with good film, I love it. It shouldn't be the main factor above game tape though.

I’m just still traumatized from the days of the Belicheck tree passing on athletes for slow old “character” guys.

If we really wanted Marcus Davenport this year, I’m watching Montez Sweat of Mississippi State next year. He’s going to check off on all the boxes athletically and he’s a better version of Davenport.

Aren't the cone drills better indicators of explosiveness?

I think those tend to measure agility/flexibility/change of direction. I mean, all of them are definitely interconnected, but I've always heard the jumps described as the ones designed to measure explosiveness.

I made a thread about this is the draft forum

what are your favorite combine events

Mine were broad and Vert

explosivness is huge at least for me and it looks like to our FO

if you have great explosivness you have a great chance on getting a jump on your opponent and sometimes that is half the battle
