Brandt with an absolute rocket, nearly broke through. Sane who?

Should’ve found room for both. Sane off the bench vs tired defenders would have been a really nice option to have in the knockouts.

Wow. What a game and what a shock result. Mexico deserved it and while I thought they were wrong to bunker so early they got across the line. They cant do that moving forward though.

Germany had pressure late but were awful by their standards. Boateng and Hummels were both bad and the fact they were left isolated time and time again did them no favors. This certainly turned the group on its head. Mexico needs to have this kind of performance against teams they are expected to beat to get a knockout round matchup against an easier opponent.

Meh. Sane has been bad for Germany. They've got endless talent out wide with Draxler, Reus, Mueller, Brandt, etc.

If Mexico could pass on their counter attacks this game wouldn't even  be close.

This makes it even worse for Germany. That many squandered opportunities practically screams out for punishment. For Mexico to blow it that often and not be made to pay for it is astounding.

Don't leave out Khedira.  He looked like those knee injuries have finally caught up to him.  And Kimmich was out there doing his best Hector Bellerin impression (attack first, overcommit, and defend as about a 3rd or 4th option).
