This. Good teams find different was to Win close games. Bad teams find was to lose them. Usually comes down to the small things. Technique, tackling, blocking , blown assignment 's, ect. Good teams minimize those mistakes which you can't have in close games.

Close games can also be decided by bad judgment calls from an official. Don't think that's indicative of a team performing bad under pressure, making them a bad team.

winning close games is good for that one year but typically those teams regress the next season.

Succinct and accurate. I would add:

you would rather win big than win close; you would rather win close than lose close

if it ruins your draft order by not being exposed(round 1 exit in playoffs to real team)

... did you really win?

Getting in the playoffs over many years gives you a better shot at a SB. Better to increase your number of entries rather than trying to have one year with maximized odds.

Good teams consistently find ways to win in crunch time. Winning a lot of close games is a sign of mental toughness and sense of urgency.

This is actually false.

Close wins are mainly a 50/50 coin flip.
