There was a lot of fluky stuff like Aaron Rodgers getting hurt and Chicago bringing in a rookie QB that contributed to Minnesota being 13-3. It’s not the most unlikeliest of outcomes that they could improve the QB position and have a worse record.

Keenum played out of his mind. Idea behind Cousins signing was that Keenum had a career year, and would regress, while Cousins would bring that same level of QBing to the table for 2018 and beyond. Looking at Denver, they made the right call, Case was lightning in a bottle. Vikings upgraded at QB no question, but it's not like the actual QB play is on another level or anything. They did not improve much elsewhere, largely looked to keep that 2017 team intact, which makes sense, but to improve on a 13-3 record!? Or even maintain it?... you've gotta make some huge improvements, unless maybe your 13 wins were a bit flukey the other direction (you should have had more!).

This is why I don't see Chicago as a true contender. Could see them winning a first round game - if they win the division - but in today's league, unfortunately, you need offense in the post-season and just enough defense.

I guess you forgot about the 2015 Broncos. That defense by itself carried that team to a championship Manning was horrible that year. The Bears are just about on that level on defense.
