Should Dak give half of any new contract to Cooper?

Β

We just made Cooper one of the highest paid WRs in the NFL.... soooo.Β

Also, this bunk stat is including a full year without cooper - - which was also the time when our OL was ish in passblocking and our offense in general was so terrible that we fired like 3 coaches. Its amazing what going from a near 10% sack rate to a sub 5% can do to your QBs chances to complete passes.Β

ok what's his passer rating? Miss me with this gibberish statistic.

EPA is a great statistic.Β  It's based off the idea that not all yards are created equal.Β

Quote

The value of a football play has traditionally been measured in yards gained. Unfortunately, yards is a flawed measure because not all yards are equal. For example, a 4-yard gain on 3rd down and 3 is much more valuable than a 4-yard gain on 3rd and 8. Any measure of success must consider the down and distance situation.

I don't like EPA either for individual players, but it's @Gmen's favorite.

Regardless, it's a dramatic drop-off. Β I'm sure passer rating would be similar, if not as bad.

27th rated pass blocking

32nd ranked receiving targets (in getting open)

Dak was getting sacked 1 out of 10 drop backs, pressured even more.Β

Dak was also throwing the most contested catches in the NFL. Zeke had more receiving yards than our #2 and #3 WRs *combined* to start the season. And he only had like 550. By game 9 we went from: Cole, Hurns, Austin, Swaim to Cooper/Gallup and Jarwin. The same guys who led the #1 offense last year in yards.Β

Β

Philly fans complain about their weapons last year as if Dak didnt have the same problem for a while as well. Atleast phillys OL never shat the bed.Β

Are we talking about 2017? Β Dak didn't even rank top 10 in aggressiveness percentage that year. Β He did rank 8th in Time to Throw though...Β ;)

2018.Β

In 2017 we actually were really solid until we lost T Smith, Zeke and our WRs were all banged up. After the Falcons game were Dak got drilled for 6 sacks and a lot of other hits, he self admittedly lost confidence in the OL. Which he should have, our OL went to complete trash the second half of the year. So did Dak. He was shook.Β

Well, he was 10th in aggressiveness % in 2018, and was 10th in Time to Throw. Β That generally means his WRs were a lot closer to average at creating separation than they were the worst, and his OL gave him the 10th most time to throw in the league (or he just wasn't getting rid of the ball fast enough).

You are looking at it for the full year. I have those numbers etched in my memory from the first 7 games. Before we fired our OL coach and traded for Cooper in the bye.Β

Ive literally written them out about 400k times.Β

So how many of those 1,031 drop-backs in the tweet are you saying should be discounted?

Also, you are misrepresenting time to throw. First of all, the spread in that stat is very little. Secondly, he scrambles, so that skews it naturally.Β

I mean - we literally fired one OL coach at the end of 2017 and then fired his replacement 7 games later. We were on our 3rd OL coach in the span of 8 games. That doesnt happen if the OL isnt playing like trash.Β
