Edelman's recovery might be interesting to watch - he and Brady are great, great friends, and Brady swears by his method. Any chance he declines the surgery and chooses to let it heal naturally?

It's not a good idea because he will be off the shelf for awhile and when he comes back you are running a massive risk that his leg can't stabilize itself and he just reinjures it.

Sucks to lose Jules this early into the year.  He's definitely one of those heart and soul type players for this team. And he's been crucial in our SB runs in the past.

luckily tho, WR is one of the deepest positions on this team and they added Cooks. I could see them bringing in another WR post pre-season cuts and I'm not banking on Carr to make this team. Think James White benefits most from this injury tbh.

Bummer. Already more key injuries than last year.

Who else? Gronk's injury last year was certainly comparable to this... To be fair though, it was also kinda expected, whereas this one wasn't.

Edit: Rivers I guess. Hard to know how key an injury that is given he is a rookie, but fair dibs, we're pretty thin at the position which makes everything key!

It's a real bummer, I was excited to see what we could do with all of this offensive talent. To be fair, we still have a lot of offensive talent remaining, but Jules has been a fantastic, reliable contributor for a long time. As mentioned here and elsewhere too, his chemistry with Brady is enormous. Let's hope that Cooks has gotten himself up to speed and that he can help us all to forget about this.

Jules seems to be an incredibly hard worker and 100% committed to the team. There's no doubt he'll work hard at his rehab and do his best to make it back to his previous levels of production, but a lot of his game is predicated on quick changes of direction and generally being shifty. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him comeback as a somewhat reduced version of himself after this. Definitely hoping for an Adrian Peterson type ACL recovery though, and I think Jules will work hard enough to make it a possibility.

AP is an athletic freak of nature. No amount of work Jules could put in will close that gap to recreate what still stands as one of the most remarkable ACL recoveries in human history

The only silver lining I could find about this is that potentially Carr can come in and replace JE11 just as JE11 replaced Wes Welker.

I know the ole' pre-season binky thing has been done to death, but this does open up a roster spot which Carr could hopefully fill, whereas if the corps of Edelman, Cooks, Amendola, Hogan and Mitchell were all fit and healthy, Carr would have been on the outside looking in.

Too optimistic?

Reiss put out the Pats are more likely to look outside the organization than within for a WR.

Sounds like Brady thinks Dola will be the big step up guy

Brady talked a lot about trust when asked about losing Julian Edelman (ACL) for the season, and Amendola's name was the first out of his mouth. "Obviously with Danny, I’ve had that with Danny," Brady said. "Danny has been such a great player for us."

Yeah, but I can hope, right?
