There's no way this backup can become a franchise long snapper like Jon. Montana to Young? Favre to Rodgers? Is Jon to Lovato possible? Is that even his name?

We did go bartrum to jon. We have only had like 2 long snappers for like 20 years.

Has a GM ever got a draft pick for a long snapper before?

Howie is the true magician!

Yeah J.J Jansen was traded from Packers to the Panthers in 2009 for a 2011(conditional) 7th round pick.

Howie basically did the same trade with out the conditional part.

Colts actually just traded there long snapper Matt Overton for safety Ronald Martin today. Which is interesting to. LS getting you a safety in 2017

Yeah, but Jansen was only 23 years old and in his 2nd year in the league.

He had  his whole career in front of him and he's been on the Panthers ever since that trade, so he's going into his 9th season with them.

Dorenbos is quickly closing in on 40 years old. He turned 37 years old this off-season. He won't be playing that much longer.

Guess We All should of seen this coming really. No way they wanted the Eagles All Time Consecutive GM's streak leader to of been a Long Snapper. Now Dorenbos and Carmichael will stay tied at 162.

That's some twisted (? ?) by Howie!?

This is just plain stupid. Some things you can't measure. And to lose him for essentially a guy who is 95% not going to contribute anything.

It's not stupid at all. It's amazing we got a draft pick for a 37 year old long snapper.

Not sure how you can make the bolded claim either.

Some players we drafted in the 7th round.

CB Jalen Mills (starting corner this year)

DT Beau Allen (key back-up)

LB Joe Walker (back-up)

RB Bryce Brown (back-up that ended up being traded for a 4th round pick which got traded for a future 3rd round pick which ended up being part of the deal to move up for Wentz)

OT King Dunlap (starter)

Going back further...

Seth Joyner (on the Eagles 75th anniversary team)

Clyde Simmons (on the Eagles 75th anniversary team)

Harold Carmichael (1970s All-Decade team and Eagles HoF inductee)

*** Now, technically only Carmichael was a 7th rounder. The other two were 8th and 9th rounders, but still...
