Agreed.  But Golden State is going to have something to say about that once Klay comes back.  The west is wide open between those three teams and then Houston in the 4th spot.  All the other teams in the west aren't championship contenders.

You don't know basketball.

Spacing isn't important in the modern NBA, I forgot.

Give me your optimal Lakers starting line-up then.

Keyword: at times

they don’t win game 2 without him.

Its funny to decide a player’s career is over year 1 after coming off an injury in which he actually bounced back well from.

He had a few glimpses but overall he wasn't good in the Finals.

But overall he wasn't a huge difference maker in the Finals. And that's a fact unless you think inefficient scoring and getting toasted in P-N-R is making a difference?

you also think he's going to retire in 12-14 months so

Also, what's the status of Iggy and Bradley?  Are the Grizzlies just going to keep those guys or are they hoping to get some draft picks for both of them?

Bradley has been waived. He's a free agent. Lakers should be calling. Still can't believe that KCP contract.

Memphis is in no rush to trade Iggy. They want to be properly compensated and I doubt they buy him out until later in the season. He's a great mentor for the young cubs.

The optimal lineup would've been to add shooting and another perimeter player that could create offense with that other max slot.

Until proven otherwise Warriors are still the best team in the West imo.

Not without Klay they aren't.  I think he has a chance to come back at the end of the season, but there's no guarantee he'll pick up where he left off.  If Klay was healthy, then you'd have a stronger argument.

I said statistically speaking that's more likely then him returning to form...

or... being better than he was before last year but not as good as he was before the injury? doesn't fit your narrative

Lakers aren't the 2nd best team in the West.

They certainly have the potential to be the best in the West given their overall talent level. However, there's too many unknowns right now to annoint them as anything better than the fourth best team in the West (definitely putting them over the Rockets).

Warriors get dropped because Klay probably won't be back until mid season.

As of right now:

1. Clippers

2. Nuggets (just because they've retained all their pieces from last year)

3. Utah

4. Lakers

5. Houston

6. Portland

7. Spurs

8. Kings
