People still want to go there? Before LeBron (who signed there for off-court reasons) their last big FA signing was who? Shaq in the mid 90s?

How many times have the Lakers had cap space for a max FA since Shaq?  Three, maybe four times.  They signed LeBron once, there was the ill-fated MozDeng offseason, and then there was the offseason in which the Lakers punted their cap space to last offseason.  So we are entering the fourth offseason, and the Lakers landed Anthony Davis.  Yeah...the Lakers aren't this FA destination.

Mookie is trying to make it sound like they'd have to give up Tatum+ to get Paul George.  If you throw Jaylen Brown and a pick to Indiana, they probably take that deal.

Sorry the truth hurts.  The Nets finished 7 GB of the C's last year, and the C's are poised to lose Kyrie Irving as a FA.

Kyrie is a cancer though.  If he goes to Brooklyn he'll bring their whole locker room down.  I think Boston will play better without Kyrie.

The Pacers wanted George in the West.  The small amount you're talking about wouldn't have moved the needle IMO.  They would have had to make a godfather offer like the Lakers just made to get George, and that would probably have damaged the Celtics.

The Kawhi situation was weird because the Spurs were insisting on a veteran All Star in return.  Hayward was coming off a major injury, at the time moving Kyrie didn't make a lot of sense, and I'm not sure Horford would have qualified as what the Spurs were looking for.  I'm not sure what package Boston could have put together to get the Spurs to say yes to that trade.

To be fair, AD wouldn't count. Not a Free Agent.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. They had a deal in place to send George to Cleveland until Pritchard pulled out at the 11th hour. Was it ever confirmed it was because they didn't want to send him somewhere in the East?

Quite the haul for AD. Really excited about all the future 1sts and pick swaps.

In an ideal world, we try to move the #4 pick in a 3 team trade with Memphis and Utah for the #2 pick...

NO Receives:
#2 overall pick (select RJ Barrett)

Memphis Receives:
#4 overall pick from New Orleans
#23 overall pick from Utah
Unprotected 2020 Utah 1st Round Pick
Top 10 protected 2020 New Orleans 1st Round Pick

Utah Receives:
Mike Conley

Wouldn't it make more sense to get New York to move up to 2 to select Ja Morant rather than having New Orleans add value to move up to 2?  Something like:

New Orleans Receives:
#3

Memphis Receives:
#4
DAL '21 FRP

New York Receives:
#2

New Orleans would need to add some sweetner in here to move up from 3 to 4.  Either throw in 39 or one of the Lakers future FRPs.
