No he's not. Capella is his safe bet. His ceiling is untapped due to how raw he is offensively. He's Capella the minute he steps on an NBA court.

yeah he'll most likely be better

but I don't think he is as good as a roller on offense or switcher on defense

but he will prob be able to do more stuff than just roll on offense like capela does

Meh. I don't think he'll be nearly as impactful defensively because he doesn't have the same motor as Capela.

Wiseman is basically Ayton with half the offensive skill.

Ayton was one of the worst defensive big men prospects to ever go #1. You are really over-hyping the value of one game against Oregon where he still played well. How'd Marvin Bagley's third career game go for him?

Wiseman is a good not great defender too and has a questionable motor just like Ayton but doesn't possess the same offensive skillset.

He's still on a different planet than Ayton defensively though. How'd Bagley's third career game go?

I'm not using a one game or even a four-game sample size to judge Wiseman. There have been questions about Wiseman's basketball IQ and motor dating back to his HS days. Recently a few scouts said:

Wiseman, 18, will be one of the toughest players for NBA scouts to evaluate. Virtually all of his potential strengths are followed by a “but.” A few examples:

  • Wiseman is built like an ideal modern big at 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan and a muscular, 250-pound frame. But he lacks physicality battling against opposing bigs in the paint, and he’s too comfortable settling for a jumper.
  • Wiseman projects as a versatile scorer who can throw down lobs at the rim and space the floor. But he’s a subpar shooter from the line and the field, raising questions about his touch from outside; to make matters worse, he has poor shot selection.
  • Wiseman uses his long arms and explosiveness to block and alter shots at the rim; he could become a feared threat simply because of his presence inside. But he lacks discipline, often jumping at pump fakes, and fundamental skills like poor footwork and awareness need work.

He's better protecting the paint but Ayton is way better laterally and is more explosive. Like yesterday Ayton got switched onto McCollum and Lillard 4-5 times in the 4th quarter and they only scored 1 time (on a nice hesi/fake step back by Lillard) in a gm that went down to the last couple shots. And the Suns started hard hedging PnRs cause Ayton can do it no problem. Wiseman has goofy feet outside the paint.

Teams took advantage of the DPoY in Gobert in the playoffs because him being uncomfortable outside the paint (Tho Gobert has gotten way better this year). I think Whitside leads the league in blocks and he isn't that good of a defensive player cause he is limited in his coverage abilities.  The Cs embarrassed Embiid in the playoffs with Horford PnRs so bad they had to switch him off Horford. You gotta have some versatility to have your strength show out. And Wiseman is antsy and goofy outside the paint. Obviously he could get better because in general he is pretty coordinated so some technique, discipline, etc will help a lot.
