How about Aikman, Werder and an agent?

How about the fact the he is the second most individually (statistically) successful QB over their first 4 years? Thats according to virtually every analytical site.

How about the fact the Romo, Witten and all his other teammates have said he is a great leader and a great QB?

Here is the entire list of reasons not to pay Dak: The Dallas Cowboys franchise has not won a superbowl and how will we ever if we have a franchise QB on a franchise contract. Which is bogus and proven false.

Romo would say Brandon Weeden has a great arm, and mobility.  He's just a nice guy.

Exactly. Most of what these guys say carries exactly zero weight

It's amazing that most football fans can't spot "locker room speak" when it's right in front of them

So he caved. Like I said he would.

Who caved?

Everyone is attempting to mold this signing into their own narrative.

Dak Prescott Just Called Jerry Jones' Bluff, Because He Holds All the Cards

------------------------------------------------------

There's only one way out of this bad poker hand for Jones: He can swallow some pride and fold. There are still a few weeks left in the franchise tag negotiation window, which closes on July 15. If he signs Prescott to a contract similar in size and shape to the Wentz deal now, he can beat Mahomes/Watson to the punch, finagle the cap space prorations to improve the bottom line over the next few years and climb out of what threatens to become a very expensive pay-as-you-go arrangement. All it would take is a little common sense and a little less stubbornness.

Why would they pay long term with the distinct possibility the cap will go down?

Jerry got to keep 100 Million in his bank account vs writing it to Dak and/or having to place it in escrow (guaranteed money part)

He gets to pay Dak by the week and the first check isn't due till Sept 15th

Jerry won this. Big Time

I think the discussion at @ 2:30 is flawed. Those percentages do not reflect ability to make the playoffs, they reflect the distribution of those categories in the NFL. Teams starting QBs on a rookie deal are more common than teams starting a QB on a top 10 deal, teams with a neither a starting QB on a rookie deal nor a QB with a top 10 QB deal are less common than either of the aforementioned groups, and teams that have both a starter on a rookie deal and another top 10 paid QB are very rare etc.

The proper way to compare these is to look at the ratio of teams within each of these categories that make the playoffs. I covered this in a post not long ago. I'll paste the relevant table from that post below (this is since 2011):

  <5% cap (73) 5-10% cap (90) 10-15% cap (95) 15%+ cap (30)
Made the playoffs 32.88% (24) 33.33% (30) 43.16% (41) 43.33% (13)
Advanced to Divisional 16.44% (12) 22.22% (20) 32.63% (31) 30.00% (9)
Advanced to Conference 9.59% (7) 11.11% (10) 14.74% (14) 16.67% (5)
Advanced to SB 5.48% (4) 5.56% (5) 7.37% (7) 6.67% (2)
Won the SB 2.74% (2) 3.33% (3) 4.21% (4) 0.00% (0)

The caps not going down.

If stadiums are only allowed 25 to 50% capacity it will go down. TV ratings may go up because more people will be watching from home now but gate revenue, merchandise and food consumption will have an effect on gross revenue for teams and stadiums. It will go down a couple of million for the start of next season

Dak caved into signing his tag. Both sides obviously wanted him to sign but Jerry and The Cowboys have won the battle thus far. Once they signed Dalton, Dak lost the leverage. Meaning his talk of not signing and holding out was just his bluff. Jerry called it

No it wont. NFLPA has to ratify the cap going down. It wont ever happen. It will stay stagnant.

Also, you have to remember the players only get ~52% of the TV revenue. So there is a buffer.

Dak didnt cave into ish. He was always going to sign his tag. Who in their right mind ever thought he wouldnt? Dak still holds the majority of the leverage.

Dude or his agent said they would holdout. Signing his tender doesnt look like holding out to me.

No he didnt? Source? Ive never read more than people stating that is an option of his.

Also, signing his tag is CYA for camp/practice. It doesnt stop him from holding out.
