Detroit needs a lot, 1 pick wasnt gonna fix them so now they get a landslide of picks. Good on them. NE, well, is NE, being aggressive to stay on top. I like it. ny92mike
22 minutes ago, winitall said: Well, we have our first major draft shakeup. A little rationale from the Lions side: Going from pick 3 to 23 is a steep drop. Not really any other way to describe it. However, at some point the asset total becomes high enough that it is impossible to turn down. Receiving 2 1sts this year, a 2021 1st, a player that was a 2019 1st round pick, and another top 100 pick is nothing to sneeze at. Adding to my decision was a belief that the Pats will likely take a step back next year. It seems possible, if not likely, that their 2021 1st will be in the top half of the draft. Given the fact this team needs a multi-year rebuild, it seemed like the pertinent idea to make this move. Love it...guys explaining their logic. @wwhickok need to find more stories like this. I typically would explain my direction after each fa bidding result addressing my targets and how they helped my team. Good stuff. sparky151
Pats really are cleaning house. I'd assume they'll pick Tua. Unless someone offers the Redskins a lot for pick 2 . Tua is a good prospect but not sure how he'll do in NE. Pats suddenly look depleted.

But they need to resign Brady, does this trade up for a, likely, QB mean the end of TB12?

ravens5520
Lions are coming out swinging and loading up on draft picks. Not sure about letting Golladay go, but the compensation was pretty solid. Trying to mimic the Ravens 3 headed attack at TE with adding TJ Hock + Engram together? Or you'll suffer an injury riddled position
Deadpulse
So happy to get that done. It took a ton of negotiate with a lot of different teams. It clears a lot of payroll as well, which means I can be aggressive in FA.

winitall
Lions notes after the second trade: Losing Golladay is a tough pill to swallow. He has been a very good player over the past few seasons. However, given that he will turn 27 this season and is in the last year of his deal, decisions have to be made. He will likely be seeking a 4-5 year deal that is extremely expensive and I am not sure that is worthwhile given the positional value. It’s likely the team will not be competitive until he is 29 or 30 and is exiting his prime rather than entering it. In return, we received a young EDGE player who had shown some success, one of the better young NT in the league, a TE that despite some injury concerns has been electric at times and is only 25, a top 100 pick this year, and a 2nd round pick next year that should be relatively high as well. EaglesPeteC
As much as I liked the first Lions trade, I don't get the 2nd one at all....especially since the biggest piece the Lions got back was a TE when they just drafted Hockenson. Not a fan of that one. Not like my opinion matters lol

Not a fan of that one. Not like my opinion matters lol It’s mostly about positional value and his soon to be free agency for me. Is it worth it to extend him for a 4 year 64 million deal that he would probably want? Especially when realistically I’m not truly competing until 2 or 3 years into that deal. I would say that Golladay is a borderline top 10 WR but I’m not entirely sure he warrants the contract he will get. He’s consistently been one of the lower catch percentage players given his high level of targets and I’m not sure I see the value. He makes a lot of stunning plays but I think the value from the deal was where I get 2 immediate starters, a rotational player, and 2 very solid draft picks. With Engram and Hockenson, I think they compliment each other extremely well. Hockenson is a better blocker and can spend more time in-line but both are very good flexed out and would give a lot of formation versatility.
