I believe it was ruled unintentional. Last nights was ruled intentional because the ref told him he was down, but he kneed him anyway.

Once the downed fighter begins to get up, the guy on top can hit him.  Not sure if Yan was trying to time that, as it appeared that Sterling was about to get up.  Regardless...poor decision by Yan.  He was winning, and would have won that fight if it continued.  Sterling was gassed.  His cardio better be on point for the rematch, unless he gets lucky and catches him.

One knee down is still downed though.

He had to get up at some point.  Was just stupid of Yan to not have more awareness.  He should have let him up, or attempted to get him all the way down.  Trying to have a perfectly timed knee was obviously not the right move when you guess wrong.

LOL  and he left the belt in the ring, as if he didn't want to win that way.  Sure dude!!!

Yep, the belt thing was part of the act. Otherwise he wouldn’t of accepted it from the start. People with any acting lessons or psychology classes can easily see Sterling was acting.

It just happens so quick though and it doesn't help that his corner was yelling at him to throw the knee.

Have some respect for the champ.

Bantamweight has had a pretty crazy run as far as who's champion.

Dominick Cruz was champion and then vacated the title due to injuries.

Renan Barao was promoted to undisputed champion, defended it once, then lost it to Dillashaw.

Dillashaw defended the belt twice, once against Joe Soto who was a pre-lim fighter but lucked into a last minute title fight and Barao. Then lost it to Dominick Cruz.

Dominick Cruz defended it once, then lost it to Cody Garbrandt.

Cody Garbrant lost his first title defense to Dillashaw.

Dillashaw defended the title once against Cody, then vacated it due to a failed drug test.

Cejudo beat Dominick Cruz for the vacated title and then retired and vacated it again.

Petr Yan beat Aldo for the vacated title and then lost his first defense by DQ.

imagine getting illegally getting kneed in the temple and being the bad guy lol

It was his poor acting job following the knee that irked people. If MMA doesn't work out I think he'd do well as an actor. Might even be able to land a gig in the MCU and be apart of their new Avengers.

I did pretty well with my picks last night, was +17 and would've been +24 if it weren't for Yan's DQ. The only fight I picked wrong was Benavidez.

Better redo your math homie. You were +16

8-7 = 1, 1+6 = 7, 7+5 = 12, 12+4 = 16, 16-3 = 13, 13+2 = 15, 15+1 = 16
