If we are talking 5 years ago, this matchup is being looked at much differently. Nuñes has since rattled off a number of wins, including beating Rousey (which in retrospect wasn't a great accomplishment) and has solidified herself as the GOAT women's fighter. Peña got a DUI, had a kid, and has been fairly irrelevant. I see why the odds are what they are, and believe that there are just too many ways for Amanda to win this fight. I wouldn't consider it a complete "hail mary" for Peña to win, but obviously it will come from wrestling. She will have to overwhelm Nuñes early, and take her to the mat, which will be a task for sure. She will then have to keep her down, and work ground and pound (and hope for an early finish) I would give her being able to do that each and every round ala Stipe vs Ngannou 1 maybe a 2% chance of happening. She literally needs TD, GNP, Finish. Amanda meanwhile has unbelievable standup, whereas Peña is limited. On the feet, this is a joke, and probably an early night. Even if she is taken down, Amanda can A. has good enough jits to possibly submit Peña, or B..just good enough to avoid a heavy dose of ground n pound, and be able to survive long enough to get back to her feet, or tire out Peña till the later rounds.
