  3. If you feel very strongly about 1 player as the choice, you may vote for 1st choice only and abstain from the 2nd and 3rd choice by selecting [[Leave Blank]]
  4. If you think a player should be selected that is not listed, please respond with a post who should be the selection.
  5. Voting criteria is up to you. Meaning you can vote either for who you think the team SHOULD take, or who they WILL take.

Josh Jones pretty much HAS to be the top pick.

I have Yetur Gross-Matos second. He seems like the type of guy that would thrive under Brian Flores, and he has a massive talent level.

Kenneth Murray is my third choice. I know it'll probably be an unpopular pick, but he's a borderline top-10 guy for me, extremely athletic and instinctive, and I think the Dolphins defense needs all the help they can get.

Tyler Biadasz would also be a great pick here. They really need to replace Mike Pouncey.

Xavier McKinney would be a big upgrade, but considering they just traded away a more talented young former Alabama safety for this pick, I don't know if it would happen.

And really, any of the top RBs would fill a void, but I'd prefer it if they waited until the start of the second-round, or their next first at the very earliest.

As a Dolphins fan I could never take Josh Jones with this pick. It is a classic example of fixation on here and now while ignoring the big picture.

Premium draft picks should be guys who have been dominant among their peers all of their lives. You want the guys who would immediately be taken first in the pick up games. Those kids don't waste time with the scouting nitpicking of trait after trait. They know the pecking order smack down the line.

Josh Jones was a 3 star recruit. He immediately redshirted in college and spent 5 years in college. He has moved up the ladder late. Sorry, that it not a guy who has been dominant among his peers all of his life. I would never consider a player with that type of resume in the middle of the first round. Sure, there are exceptions. Somehow the internet loves to scramble for exceptions. The laughable aspect is people who don't realize that exceptions merely serve to highlight the rule. You are losing ground to the rest of the league if you allow them to take life long studs while you rationalize the late blooming stiffs.

Josh Jones is not a specific player. He is an example of how to approach this process.

This won't be popular but I would take Tua and then follow it by taking Jordan Love at 18. The skill sets are different but the talent level is so high that seemingly at least one of them has to click.

The numbskull perspective is that the rest of the league will laugh at you if you take two quarterbacks, essentially admitting you aren't sure. Let them laugh. One of the most pathetic weaknesses of life is concern regarding peer pressure. Eventually you realize that everyone has their own problems and they weren't thinking about you nearly as much as you believed at the time.

The analytics sites are already proclaiming that the quarterback position is so valuable that it is absurd that teams take only one crack and then start pretending that this is a chess piece sport with pieces of similar value. Eventually the analytics will continue to take hold and we'll have more examples of teams upgrading the quarterback position in back to back years, like the Cardinals with Rosen then Murray. As a Dolphins fan I know the history of general manager Joe Thomas astutely giving up on 1966 high first round pick Rick Norton only one season later, therefore grabbing Bob Griese high in the first round of the 1967 draft. Minus that decision Don Shula probably never makes the move to Miami and the Perfect Season never happens, etc.

Also, when the Jets drafted Namath in the first round they used their second round pick on Heisman Trophy winning quarterback John Huarte from Notre Dame. Namath said that was a necessary jolt to him because he realized nothing would be handed to him, despite the outlandish $400,000 contract of that time period.

Everything tends to drift back to the beginning. The league will begin to recognize the value of 2 chances instead of 1 at quarterback. The Dolphins might as well be the trendsetters. The franchise has operated mostly on fear and conventional wisdom since those early '70s with nothing to show for it.
