4 OL signed. 1 was tagged.

Conklin wasn’t coming

Vaitai got 50M

Glasgow chose Denver

Flowers went to Miami

Thuney was tagged

2 Receivers were traded(1 to the other conference and another for a haul of picks we didn’t have)

Cooper got 100M, we weren’t doing that.

whos left?

McGovern, Looney, Haeg, Williams, Hurst, Lewis.

Sanders, Perriman, Richardson, Gabriel, Dorsett.

Sexy names? No but some could be effective for us.

There’s 1 player on that list that helps this team and team building and that’s McGovern. And it’s not like he’s great or anything.

In your opinion but I get it. Our best course of action is to be patient.

Absolutely but normally the next tier of FAs is better than this. So patience isn’t/hasn’t going helped us. As I said no one left is moving the needle much for us on offense. And that’s where our money needed to be spent. And let’s be real... we know we’re not spending nearly every draft pick on offense. Also that’s relying on A LOT of rookies to actually start at this rate.

So at first I figured Fant was going to compete for a spot and be the primary swing. But the more you watch, the more you see starter traits. They protected themselves with low guarantees (and when the figures come out, it will really be something like a 2 year, $17 million deal), but as of now Fant is the Jets starting LT. What happens in the draft will have a huge say in how the front 5 shakes out, but with Brady angling to package Trent Williams with him, expect Fant, Edoga, and a 1st round pick to make up 3-of-5 starting spots.

Looks good. I worry or shall I say wonder why he was rated so poorly by pff. Is it consistency?

Poor technique. He’s plenty strong and athletic. Just isn’t technical. Staff must feel they can coach him into a decent starter I’d assume. The clips you’re seeing are the highlight reel. Not what you’re getting every snap.

Yeah of course the highlights are going to make him look like a world beater but I wondered if he suffered through lack of quality (like you suggested) or he mentally isn’t consistent enough. Hopefully the coaching staff can do wonders for him but last year wasn’t a ringing endorsement for that to happen

From Connor Hughers:

  • Turning 28, but only in the NFL 4 years (played 3) after being a basketball player/TE convert.
  • He's only played OL for *3.5 years*. In his pro day, the Seahawks tried him out as a LB, DE, DT, TE, and OT. Ultimately felt he would be best at OT.
  • Tireless work ethic. Had it not been for the ACL injury, he could have become the long-term tackle for SEA.
  • Contract is essentially a 1 year, prove it deal, but those close to Douglas inside and outside of the organization think they found something in Fant.
  • Incredible athlete with some position flexibility.

As far as what's expected going forward:

  • Chuma Edoga is very likely to be a starter. Jets think the world of him and feel he's going to take a huge step forward next year.
  • Like Conklin, Glasgow really didn't want to relocate to the east coast. He's from Michigan, his wife is from Chicago and they just got married. They're looking forward to starting their life in Denver, and he turned down more money from the Jets to do it.
  • C/G Stefen Wisniewski, G Greg Van Roten, C/G Matt Skura, and OL Joe Haeg are some names to monitor as plug-ins, but the Jets are going to heavily invest in OL in the draft.

Fant may improve if he focuses on one position.   He gave up about 4 qb attacks in 230 ish passing opportunities last year alone. I can't be sure if he actually handled blocker alone.

So we will be weak at WR for Darnold. Great.
