mission27
For our Canadian friends, we will be updating this daily: Many of the provinces have this situation well under control in the MoLs estimation, but unfortunately the situation in Ontario and Quebec is still less than ideal (particularly in Montreal). With that being said, numbers have improved quite a bit over the past week indicating we may be seeing things finally start to turn the corner. More to come. vikesfan89
https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report It's still pretty early but Georgia hasn't had an uptick in cases at all after easing restrictions. It'll be interesting to see if that continues

Ohio is easing restrictions this week, and in most counties cases are way down from a month ago. If Georgia can hold steady, I would expect Ohio to remain steady too. Though, anecdotally, I talked to a friend of mine in Georgia a few days. His exact words were "ain't s*** open". So take that for what it's worth. mission27
Excuse me, I mispoke earlier today The MoL deaths forecast comes out to around 137k deaths as of July 31 which is slightly higher than IMHE as of that date, not slightly lower
mission27
Here again is the MoL deaths forecast. Deaths came in at 750 today vs 970 predicted by our model, so an encouraging day for sure (and the lowest figure since March 29th) however we are not revising our forecast down until we see further downward trends over the coming days.
mission27
Today also had the lowest number of new cases (~20k) reported since March 29th, the day before the MoLs began TLO may have a special announcement to make this evening. Stay tuned

candyman93
Apparently there’s a manufactured antibody that targets the spike protein that gives the new coronavirus a crown-like shape and lets it enter human cells.

All coronaviruses have a crown like shape tbh, that's where the name comes from
candyman93
Maybe I’m wrong, but in theory, if there’s a cheap cure like the antibody I mentioned, society could return to normal correct? It’s unrealistic to expect everything to be shut down until a vaccine comes out.

The weekend always has lower reported numbers though. If trends continue, there will be a "spike" tomorrow as more reports come in. The week of the 25th is where I really start paying attention to numbers.

Yes, the MoL death forecast accounts for the fluctuations within the week. The spike usually starts on Tuesday though, Mondays are slow too. Our forecast for this week was: Sunday: 970 (came in at 750) Monday: 1,108 Tuesday: 1,976 Wednesday: 1,912 Thursday: 1,790 Friday: 1,419 Saturday: 1,196 Total for the week: 10,151 (there were 12,588 last week) Lets see how close we come.
