...okay? Strawman argument. I gave Zeke a Nolan

Not a strawman. If we want to shed fat, lets cut the people who arent nearly as responsible for us being competitive. Why make it about Dak? Why not all the overpaid other people?

Dak is the best player on our team (though Martin has a case).

Ehh I'd still say Martin, Smith and maybe even Collins are better at their perspective positions than Dak is at his

Martin is arguably the best guard in football, he's a future Hall of Famer assuming injuries don't derail his career. Tyron is probably more so top five at his position, Collins top ten. I'd say Dak is top seven.

Dalton was bad yesterday but even with Dak they probably lose this game. Blitzes were not getting picked up. Knight was getting destroyed by some no name white guy on the cardinals defense. Offense line is just a complete mess right now. Zeke should be benched. He puts the ball on the ground every single game. Nothing needs to be said about the defense as they are the worst in the league.

This argument is completely irrational, especially considering how teams like Seattle, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, LA, etc. have invested in the QB position but are still fielding competitive, and in some cases championship-caliber, teams. The issue is that the Jones haven't spent the other $167M very well. The team has a lot of money tied up in guys who are either a) injured and have a long history of injuries and b) under-performing and have been for a while. Then there's the issue with the team's recent drafts. They haven't drafted well. The club has hit on a handful of picks, but many of their mid- to late-round selections have not contributed.

The club has a way more issues than Dak Prescott. De-Law has a $25M cap hit. Cooper is at $22M. Tyron Smith is at $14.025M. Zeke is over $13M and he's been subpar for the last season and a third (and just bad this year).

Dak is an easy target and blaming him for the team's poor use of cap is, well, lazy. Your argument also assumes the team would spend the money wisely. We've seen that Jerry and Stephen are not exactly great at handing out contracts and identifying talent. For all we know, they might throw $30M at an over-the-hill safety like Earl Thomas.

First, I agree that DLaw has underperformed and is not justifying his contract extension.  Zeke has been a complete disaster and an argument could be made for cutting him this offseason.  Injuries are what they are.  I see them differently than poor play.

however, there is nothing irrational or lazy about about questioning how spending $40M a year on Dak makes this team better.  In case you haven’t figured it out... we kinda suck while paying him $31M.  We really should be 0-6.  And, whether you want to admit it or not... Dak is part of the problem with his TOs.  Like I said before... if Dak played in quarters 1-3 the same way he plays in the 4th quarter while losing in a blowout, by all means, pay him the $40M.  But that’s not what’s happening.  Dak has been given more offensive weapons than any other QB in this league.  It’s not working.  Dak has been given huge investments in the OL (even before injuries) and it still not working.

Next year Dak will be tagged at $37M+.  It’s a cap prohibitive number.  It eliminates the option of trying to improve the team in free agency.  However, if we tag Dak and trade him for 2 first round picks to a team that thinks they are close to winning with a good qb... it opens up over $30M in cap space.  Combine that with multiple high draft picks, it gives us a chance to rebuild.  Keeping the status quo neither gives us draft capital nor cap flexibility.

Might I suggest that you actually look at facts instead of spew nonsense?

Daks best qrts are the 2nd/3rd. Daks 1st half and 2nd half are almost the same. Daks trailing passes way out weigh his leading passes because we cant field a decent defense to save our lives. Even then, thats where most of his INTs come from - - hailmarys. Which should never, ever, ever be held against *any* QB.

Speaking of irrational...

*googles highest paid Dallas players*

*googles Dallas Cowboys injured players*

Yep... no Dak there

Hey man, its activity and conversation. And technically this is a poop on Andy conversation. Dak is a side note.

I'm not saying to not converse...just do it in the Dak thread. Dak didn't play in this game so GB/Nolans don't apply to him.

GB: Andy Dalton. The team seriously let him down. He made a nice shuttle pass to Zeke to escape a sack and Zeke fumbles it. Zeke fumbles again on a drive. Gallup drops a for sure TD. His slant to Amari Cooper was picked but that’s the same route, same WR, and same result as the Cleveland game. Amari stopped on the slant again. He made a poor throw/choice in the beginning and the INT was dropped. Got lucky there. It wasn’t pretty but Dalton wasn’t the problem. He made a number of nice throws, and had some heat.

Nolans:

ZEKE! You lost this game. You got benched for Tony Pollard. You hurt Zack Martin. You are a disappointment to your family.

The defense I guess. Although I thought they played well in the first half.

Worst. Post. Ever.  This is straight trolling.  Zeke stepped up big time.  Zeke singlehandedly overcame Dalton’s efforts to try and avoid getting sacked.  Zeke was like...”oh, you don’t to take the sack, watch this...fumble.”  Then, Zeke knowing that the defense was struggling early on by forcing punts, took it on himself, to give the defense a short field TWICE.  Worked like a mother effing charm.  Then, for goo measure, Zeke knocked Martín out of the game by going full Julius Jones.

Did you guys notice how others followed zeke’s leadership?  Gallop manned up and dropped the TD pass.  Knight probably played his best game.  There were times homeboy didn’t even bother getting out of his stance.   Zeke was nothing short of heroic.
