Like they say, keep family and work separate.

And I really hope we land Whitehead. Dude has a lot of talent if he can put it all together and can probably be had in that 3rd-5th round range. Would love to see Richard work with him.

Has anyone seen this PJ Hall guy from Sam Houston State? As a DT, he had over 80 TFL and over 40 sacks in his career, plus 14 blocked kicks. Supposedly ran a sub 4.7 40 at his pro day, had a 38" vertical, and did 36 reps on the bench press. I know it's FCS but damn

I've watched some tape on him. He's a 7th Round-UDFA kinda guy but I'd like to bring him in and see if he could be one of those steals we used to be known for.

He has a TON of Jay Ratliff to him. Fast penetrating type of interior lineman, with a lot of burst to his upper body strength, with almost no real technique or football instincts to him

. Kid will need a ton of coaching to find the field in the NFL, but when drafting from the bottom of the barrel (picking in the 6th, 7th rounds) when its all the fatty grizzles and bones left on the plate, you look for those physical traits that stand out, or that stat line that makes you think, or that one memorable game tape you saw that made you kinda say hmm...

PJ Hall is that guy you pick then.

That's who I'd compare him to.

Jay Ratliff had one major step on Hall however - he played at Auburn.

While he still had suboar technique and was lacking in instincts, he had quality college coaching, better execution than Hall, and decent experience against good competition. He had a leg up in knowing how to get things done against good players.

Ratliff was more suited for rounds 4-5 and was a surprise to have falled to the 7th, perhaps falling because he played a different position and role each year he was at Auburn (TE, early down DE, 3rd down DE, then DT) and no one knew what his best fit in the pros would be.

Hall will be lucky if he goes in round 6, but is likely a round 7 flier or priority UDFA kind of guy if he just gets buried behind more experienced players.

But, again, like Ratliff, the upper body explosion of power is there, the swift foot movement on the snap is there, and with the right coaching, the proper role for him, he could develop into a nice find. Remember it took Ratliff a few years to get his game together, and it was a shock when he earned a starting job as a nose guard in a oddman front.

I’d take that draft in a heartbeat.

Seems like I got everyone a round later than I should have. Would have liked a better DT  but couldn't pass up the value of Hernandez and Sutton in the 2nd and 3rd

Using Drafttek board on Hard difficulty I managed this. Id be cool with it. Jackson went #3 to NYJ, Moore and Sutton went off before I was up, and Wynn went #18.

Did this one with the Bleacher report. Was hard to justify passing on a big time corner like Josh Jackson when he was available, even if its not much of a need.
