But we're not really talking about individually ranking the teams. The discussion was centered around the perception that Mitchell is leading his team in a more competitive race for a playoff spot, which you agree with. Which in turn is what is fueling his rise in the ROTY rankings.

It's not a more competitive race.

Ben Simmons with his 6th Triple Double of the year in a 24 pt comeback win against the Heat

Marco was a huge signing. Great off the bench

Huge win with Embiid out

Definitely a big win. Saw the score at halftime and thought it was going to be a pretty embarrassing loss with the Heat on a tough back to back. But it looks like it was a hell of a comeback. 27 to go with a 3 game lead over Detroit should guarantee a playoff spot minus a pretty big collapse.

ROY has no consistency to the award whatsoever. Carmelo had similar stats and led his team to a playoff spot in the old West while LeBron missed the playoffs in a worse East and still got ROY over Melo. In a similar scenario, Amare and Yao had similar production and Yao (like LeBron) had infinitely more hype, and Amare won ROY because his team made it into the playoffs.

It's basically darts on a wall being thrown at a few candidates outside of one being super obvious.

Or last year. Saric is clearly the better player and had better numbers but gets snubbed. They used the "hes on a playoff contender" argument again
