Rodgers will undergo surgery to mend the rupture, his coach said Tuesday.

Extensive physical therapy and rehab will follow, since the injury and ensuing surgery will lead to muscle atrophy and a loss of strength. It may be a full year before Rodgers can return to action.

The Achilles tendon connects the muscles in the back of the calf to the heel. Tears are usually painful and can affect a person's ability to walk.

“It allows you to push off. If you want to run, to jump, to push your foot and ankle down, take a ballerina position, explode out of the gate, it allows you to do all those things,” said Dr. Balazs Galdi, an orthopedic specialist who teaches at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

“It pretty much does everything," Galdi continued. "Not one thing, nothing, can be done without it.”

I watched The QB School episode on Anthony Richardson, and that is how you match an offense with the strengths of your QB. There is a lot to like there. Bears fans would/should be jealous.

It also helps that the guys coaching the team helped make the choice of QB, which didn't happen in Chicago.  That doesn't excuse the Bears' staff, but Fields was Nagy's guy not Getsy's.

Which speaks to organizational problems beyond Xs and Os. Don't hire people that can't work with the tools that they are provided with.

I swear the Bears won't be good until they are sold.

And that's probably not going to happen because it appears that once Virginia McCaskey dies, it's going to go to someone else in the family...whichever member of the McCaskey family that is is still unknown.

Living here and having almost exclusively Bears-fan friends, I feel for them. I never want the Bears to be good, but it's hard to have Jerry Reinsdorf and the McCaskey's running 60% of the sports franchises in the city.

So, what has happened to the supposed superiority of AFC quarterbacks?  Except for Tua, the better quarterback play has been in the NFC for the first 2 weeks.  Prescott, Purdy, Cousins, Goff, Stafford are playing really well. Burrow, Jackson, Herbert, Watson even Mahomes seem to be more ordinary than in the past.

Burrow's been hurt, so I pretty much toss him out of the discussion...but it's still early.  It'll sort itself out soon enough.  Prescott will definitely regress to the mean, as he's had these moments before and then he falls off.   It always happens, either because of injury or something else.
