JetsandI
Since Jets have done filling out starting spots via trades and FA nobody is basically guaranteed to win a starting gig as a former overall 10# draftee. If Jets don't trade down from #10 then there are a several spots that may make some influence on veterans' fate in June. Those recently signees' dead money would split dead money into two years comfortably if cut after June. LT Tyron Smith: He has been hurt annually. If he plays plenty he gets more money. He can be traded or cut after LT wins starting job during the training camp. WR Mike Williams: Landing top WR may keep Williams at bay to keep cap expense from raising during the season. DT Javon Kinlaw: Just in case if Jerzhan Newton is the pick. lol but same concept as above. Non GTD contract player RT Morgan Moses: He has been durable until last year. Jets can wash the hands on him if they land RT in similar theory as LT. Trading or Cutting him by week 1 won't affect salary cap. I am sure those players are hungry to play a full season this year but it is business and insurance strategy.

Zero chance of any of this happening nor should it. Any rookie we draft is a future starter / backup this year. Thinning our depth at two spots (WR and OT) that we have struggled keeping healthy is bad business. As of today, we are projected to be $3M OVER the cap after signing our draft picks. I suspect Wilson will be traded freeing up $5M. Restructuring Conklin, Reed, and / or JFM could free up another $15M. THe good thing is we have time, but those types of moves will happen long before any of our vet FA's are cut.
jetsfan4life51
Decided to look into Safeties. I love Tyler Nubin. Really like Bullard and Hicks Day 3. Edited April 14 by jetsfan4life51
Jag68Sid87
What are your thoughts on Miami's K Kinchen? He looks like someone who could be drafted in Round 3 and start right away.
rickyt31
Hicks and Kinchens are probably my favorite mid round safeties at the moment. I have Dejean as my trade back sleeper. Cooper, Trotter, Liufau, and Gray would be great for this LB.
rickyt31
I would update this to Draft & College Football 24-25 talk, but it's not giving me the option. Should I start new threads?

rickyt31
I finally made up my mind. I want to trade back. I don't mind making the pick at 10, but this draft is good at the positions we need it. A lot of great development OTs, OGs, day 1 WRs, and solid defensive prospects.

I love the coaching staff we hired, but we hired them late and our schedule is crazy. We play Oregon, USC, LSU, Penn State, Iowa, and Washington. That's a tough schedule for any team.
