Rodgers is now 11-3 all-time at Solider Field, and when he whipped out that "I still own you!!!" wisecrack, it seemed like a 14 year culmination of being a perennial punching bag issued in 5 seconds. As a 49ers fan Russell Wilson has essentially stomped on us for about a decade now, but man I hope he never twists the knife like that. Oof. The spirit of Bears fans might not recover after that one. The entire saga in a matter of weeks has basically whittled down to "Justin needs to start for EXP" to "Put Andy back in, Justin ain't ready". Which ain't a shock as it's the instant gratification era. It's one thing to say your rookie QB needs to take his lumps that first year, but when the bullets are live on gameday, half of those same fans will turn on the drop of a hat regardless of circumstance after two games of lackluster performance. Everyone wants the next Dan Marino or Justin Herbert type season from their shiny new trigger ace. But it's just not gonna happen 99% of the time. Hope is a hell of a drug. When the hope doesn't arrive quick enough, it's easy to crawl back into the hole of negativity and look like the smartest person in the room. Yikes.
