If anything, it's an indictment of the position coaches for not having their units prepared or playing well. It's also an accurate account of how the defense has played. They've had good individual performances, but units as a whole have been bad. Maybe it shows a scheme that is too overall talent dependent when you can have multiple players at different levels with strong performances and it's not translating to unit or overall defensive strength. No pass rush will sink any defense and GB's pass rush stinks Still hope they move on from Capers because this team has pretty much been spinning its wheels for the past 4-5 yrs now. TT keeps throwing early draft talent at that defense and it never amounts to much. What key players are missing from the defense tonight? This defense isn't any good and hasn't been any good for quite some time. Sometimes statistically they are a good defense but then we get to the playoffs and it gets scorched. Statistically this defense was excellent in 2009 and Kurt Warner had an absolute field day against it. In 2012 it was pretty decent and we got throttled by the 49ers. This defense can't stop any above average QBs. I keep saying it. Every time we play a decent offense or QB we pretty much give up 30-40 points like its clockwork. I'm tired of all the apologists. We are going nowhere with Dom Capers at DC. Our defense year after is atrocious at situational football. That is what truly matters. Every team is going to give up a ton of yards every now and then to a good team. But the thing is. Can your defense hold up at the end of the 1st and 2nd half against the 2 minute and 4 minute drill and can you get stops in the red zone. This defense has been comically bad at stopping teams in both of these situations. You will never win a championship with a defense that can't get stops in the red zone or make a stop at the end of halves. I don't know that New England really had a more talented defensive roster last year than us but they were #1 in points allowed and were very good in the red zone.
