Yup

If Bears sign 3 FAs but lose 3 FAs but the contract values of arrivals are less than the departures then pretty sure they are still compensated.

I don't know much about Lucas Patrick. Is this a true starting caliber Center or more of a transition boom / bust signing?

More of a transition signing.  Don't think he's much of a boom or bust FA signing.  He's your starting [insert IOL position here], but you're going to be looking to draft and develop someone to replace him.

Net FAs signed/lost do account do count towards the comp pick formula.  If you sign 4 small FAs and lose one significant FA, you won't get a comp pick.

In all likelihood ESB is a training camp look see on a H/W/S specimen with basically no risk. I don’t have any problem with that. I can’t imagine it’s a move that keeps us from any other moves.

This.  It's probably a minimum (or near minimum) deal to get him into camp.  He's nothing special.

Yes because of salary...not just the amount.

We have signed 4 free agents that qualify. [Nichols, Daniels, Robinson]

We have lost 3 free agents that qualify. [Morrow, Patrick, Pringle, Jones]

How much they are making is irrelevant until we lose more guys than we sign.

It is the amount of qualifying free agents.

You have to lose more guys than you gain... after that how high the pick is depends on the salary.

Yes so we still have a ton of guys we let go to be signed...then Robinson's salary will have us gain a decent pick.

We do not have a ton of guys who will qualify.

Hicks and Dalton probably clear the 3 million threshold. That means we could sign 1 more UFA to get Robinson's pick back.
