Jason Wright: “We will be in a new venue in 2027.”

Kinda figured this would be the tack they would take.

“But don’t you see, now that we chose this generic, innocuous name, we can get a stadium in DC again. It will be a football palace, a stadium you’ll be proud of and others will envy. You won’t care about the silly team name when you’re kicked back enjoying a craft beer among your fellow Commandos in the modern day coliseum we’re going to build. With a retractable roof, so that we can host the Super Bowl. And the Olympics. And the Super Olympics, which we anticipate will come into existence in 2032.”

Paid for by taxpayers dollars and pocketed by Dan Snyder.

This is of course very likely, but they need to stop this practice of overpromising.

I think the better question is will Wright be here in 2027.

Yep, better to under promise and over deliver.

I just wonder what color the unicorns are in his world.

I like Jason Wright but this quote leaves a lot to be desired. A day after he said that we’ll be in a new stadium in 2027 at the podium of the Commanders name reveal, he’s already kind of walking it back by talking about all the hurdles and they don’t have a definitive timeline yet.

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/commanders/so-many-hurdles-delay-timeline-new-commanders-stadium-jason-wright-says?cid=Yahoo&partner=ya4nbcs

“There are sooooo many hurdles to go until we have a definitive timeline," Wright said.

Wright’s new comments come just one day after he said the team would move out of FedEx Field and into a new stadium by 2027.

“We will be in a new venue in 2027. That's about the only timeline I can give you,” Wright told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Now that a name change has been completed, a new stadium is one of the biggest long-term projects the Commanders must undertake. Wright also noted that FedEx Field, the team’s home since RFK Stadium closed in 1997, has given fans the best experience they’ve had in years, per John Keim.”

I don’t know how he can say this with a straight face given the low attendance and issues with water pipes breaking at the stadium.

The location of the Commanders’ new stadium has been a hot topic in the nation’s capital over the last few years. D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser tweeted her support of a new stadium being built within the city limits rather than in Maryland or Virginia…

…FedEx’s stadium contract expires in 2027. While the Commanders were in ‘serious’ talks to build a new venue in Virginia last month, nothing is definitive and the new stadium’s location and development will all take time to come to fruition.”
