Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that they have requested an interview with Texans quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton for their offensive coordinator role. Hamilton remains under contract to the Texans as they continue their head coaching search and he could be in line for a new role in Houston based on how that plays out. Word on Sunday was that the Texans are working on a deal that would make defensive coordinator Lovie Smith their next head coach. Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports that Hamilton is expected to be Smith’s choice for offensive coordinator if those talks wind up with an agreement. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/02/07/reports-jaguars-want-to-interview-pep-hamilton-who-could-wind-up-as-texans-oc/ I know there are only 32 teams and limited jobs available, but why (other than a paycheck) would anyone take a job with that franchise?

I think he overlapped with Andrew Luck at Stanford and Indy. Not positive tho.

Pep Hamilton was given a lot of credit for the work he did with Justin Herbert during his rookie year, and again this past year with another rookie, Davis Mills. Then there’s his work with Andrew Luck, both collegiately and professionally. And it could be argued that he got the most out of Kyle Orton in Chicago.
swede700
I saw it referenced elsewhere, but what are people's thoughts on potentially seeing the return of John DeFilippo to the Vikings? He crossed paths with O'Connell in Cleveland and is currently unemployed.
vikesfan89
It's crazy how quick and far he's fallen from being the next hot young offensive coach

As we've learned over time, Zimmer wasn't exactly the easiest person to work for. That doesn't excuse DeFilippo for his "insubordination", but it does put it in context. I would hope that DeFilippo learned from that experience.

Although,, I have to believe that he’s gonna reunite with Pederson. Edited February 7, 2022 by SemperFeist

Poor David Culley; sacrificial lamb for this last season and ends up being replaced by one of his assistants. Texans are a dumpster fire.

The guy outperforms expectations with a significantly worse roster, gets fired, and is then replaced by someone from his own staff. Nightmare organization.
