There is a massive amount of competition now that wasn't there a decade ago. Places like SBNation provide better content from writers. And provides better team based discussion formats. Reddit is basically the same thing as this site except way more popular because of the amount of content that is discussed and provided. People tend to just talk about sports and things on social media now because of how accessible it is to them. The site up until this beta testing didn't have a mobile friendly platform, hell it was running on something from the early 2000s.
