Nacho Simulation Football League (Season 24 - Taco Bowl XXIV POSTED!)

Recommended Posts

I submit to the All-Star Bowl voters two Waste Walruses (one offense, one defense) to consider with your votes:

Aaron Jones [16 GS]: 285 carries for 1,404 yards (4.93 YPC, 34 LNG), 7 touchdowns, 4 fumbles. 23 receptions for 204 yards (8.87 YPR, 19 LNG), 1 touchdown, 3 drops.

Jeffery Simmons [16 GS]: 65 tackles (19 stuffs), 6 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries.

Thanks.

And, yeah, I completely agree. I was a bit torn on what to sort by for safeties: if I choose coverages, I have to essentially delete Griffin, as most of his 47 coverages were gained at CB. I guess totaling all non-tackle stats would be interesting.

I'll edit that post and add "impact stats" for safeties in a bit.

Also, a note about the TEs: it happened to list Waller above Kelce, as they tied in yards. This is obviously not a 'ranking', as putting Waller above Kelce, based on those stats, would be absurd. If they played in the same conference, I would've gone back and flipped them, but, as they don't, it shouldn't be an issue. Just clarifying that it wasn't intentional.

I created a column for IMP (impact plays) and posted those results, but it felt kind of dirty... Jamal Adams and Earl Thomas were at the way bottom of the list. I then added IMPs and TAKs to get the total number of positive plays (TOTS), and posted that list as well. Jamal Adams ranked 3rd, which felt better, but that list is obviously going to weigh tackles heavily.

All three lists are available in the original post.

  18. 80.8 Thunder
  19. 79.9 Orcas
  20. 79.6 Polar Bears (rip, twins)

Preseason prediction revisit... Playoff teams in bold.. I feel decent about the way this worked out

Even got the #1 seeds correct

This was before the Walruses did some crazy roster moves that bolstered the roster, so I'm not going to fault the formula for that.

Otherwise, we got burned a little bit by the gauntlets in green and red, but I'm not too mad about that

I like how we're leaving off a guy second in the league in picks,  2 forced fumbles with a td and team defensive mvp because he didn't get thrown at enough.  What a joke

The lists are sorted based on only one (or a few) metrics. It's not meant to exclude anyone intentionally, and certainly isn't personal.

I can try to do the IMP/TOTS with the CBs as well, if you'd like.

I like how you’re complaining about the list but haven’t provided one yourself. What a joke

I added the two different lists (IMP and TOTS) for CBs in the Defense post.

The difficulty with Ramsey is that he finished 23rd in coverages. It's not to say that he didn't have a good (or even great) season, but that it won't reflect as well as others when sorted statistically unless we weight the stats differently. I'm all ears as to how that should be done.

I also don't think we can understand how frequently Ramsey was "thrown at" without breaking down every CB-WR match-up game-by-game. It's a task I'm not sure I want to take part in.

I mean I'm new but you included Reed and not Ramsey,  while the game(?) rewarded Ramsey team defensive mvp so whatever system that is used there obviousky values coverages much less

You have to understand: those lists are based solely on stats and nothing else. I didn't go through and decide which players should be on those lists. Just stats.

Nacho will put out player and team rankings either tonight or tomorrow; those are generated by the sim, and provide a better gauge of a player's performance in situations like this.

It's certainly nothing personal on my part.
