Crimmage Posted August 17, 2022 Share Posted August 17, 2022 They should just stick to day 3 / UDFA Corners (Jon Jones / JC Jackson / Malcolm Butler / Asante Samuel /etc.) and fill in the gaps with Free Agency (like with Gilmore / Mills /etc. ) I would give up on the 2nd round at CB out of principle at this point. I agree. Personally I see CB as the new RB. Why spend the money they are over paid BT! Why pay when its nearly impossible to stop today's offenses. The rules gives them no chance. Spend, on pressure and speed in the front seven. I look at Ramsey without Donald he lit up like a Xmas tree. Same, I don't think they will be elite but I think this defense has a chance to be very good. Mills is looking like a major surprise.. I remember how angry people were when they signed him last year.. now all of a sudden he could be a good starting CB. Jon Jones on the outside can be rough based on the matchup.. but if their plan is to have him on the top WR with safety help and Mills on the #2, I think you could be in decent shape. Jack Jones looks like he is going to be a ball hawk once he gets used to the speed of the NFL, really excited to see him in these next two preseason games. By the second half of the season I think he could play a lot. Then the most exciting guy could be Marcus Jones.. they wouldn't put Jon Jones on the outside if they didn't think this guy was going to be great. He will be amazing in the slot and on punt returns I like how Wade has done in coverage too... he just really needs to look for the ball more and he could end up getting some INT's instead of balls hitting him off the helmet. They dont have a shutdown guy... sure that sucks.. but they are way deeper than they have been the last year or two. By rotating a bunch of guys it will also help them stay fresh for the 4th quarter and maybe they are able to beat up some WR's that way when they are getting tired. This is also not taking into account the fact that they will likely have an elite safety group ( 4 very good players there) ... a rejuvenated LB corp ( Mack Wilson is going to be a difference maker, Jennings young KVN, Uche pass rush specialist) .. and Barmore could take a year 2 leap. This defense is going to surprise people. The defense will do their part imo.. what will determine if they make the playoffs or not is if the OL holds up and if Mac makes a year 2 leap ( From all reports it seems like he's been ok in camp.. but we can't tell with how bad the OL is) 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you speak to any NFL fan and tell them our number 1 CB is Mills, they’d laugh however, this team knows how to coach up DBs better than anyone. JC Jackson was a nothing name when he joined, UFA.
