Gonna push back a little on the narrative here that the packers don't have to move Rodgers this year.

They DON'T, absolutely DON'T have to move Rodgers until the end of training camp/start of season.  They can wait that long.  They DO, absolutely DO, have to move Aaron Rodgers this year before exercising his option bonus.  If they end up on the hook for that option, their 2024 cap and dead charges for trading him next year will be +27M to trade him vs keeping him.  That's 3x worse than the situation this year where "it costs 8M more to trade than to keep".

Well, that's only sort of true- right?  It may cost 8M in cap 2023 less to keep him, but it will cost 27M MORE next year, in a year where Jordan Love will have a significant cap charge due to his 20M fully GTD 5th year option.

That's not a tenable situation for GB next year, so they absolutely need to do something about that this year if the plan is to move on from Rodgers.

If the Jets are willing to wait until the very start of the season, they can get Rodgers pretty cheap since they will be forcing GBs hand to deal him or eat the prohibitive future money.  If they want him now, it's probably gonna cost a lot.

Basically Gute can tell Joe Douglas, if you have the balls to hold out till the end of August and insert Rodgers in there with a week of camp, you win. If not, I'll be taking my 1st round pick or equivalent value please.

there's a bit of a "we have all the leverage" sentiment which I think is correct now as compared to the Jets.  But if the Jets keep holding out and not agreeing to our demands, that leverage starts to flip as we get closer to the season starting.

The way that shifts back again is if another team enters the bidding.  Such as Las Vegas or some team who was hoping to get a draft QB and did not, or suffers a QB injury pre-season.

Only if they have a viable option at quarterback. Everyday another QB gets signed their options diminish greatly.

Do they want to go get Stafford? I guess that is an option, but his neck injury is supposedly pretty severe.

One of them are going to fold soon. I can't see either of them allowing this to go on past the draft.

On a side note, these 'reporters' have no shame. There is so much misinformation out there. Journalism is about getting clicks rather than getting it right.

That's what Kevin Costner would do....and I'm all for it!  :)

I see a few of the shrieking idiots are still here.

Nothing to do but wait at this point for the Jets to cave.

Using the Stafford deal as precedent is really smart.

Do the Rams actually care about the picks they lost for basically 1 good year?  No, they won a Super Bowl

We fans need to call loudly for the Packers to keep Aaron. Let Murphy casually make the case that it’s not impossible
Turn up the heat.

This is Aaron Rodgers we're talking about. They told him they are moving in a different direction. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell he'd come back and play for the Packers.

How long before the NFL steps in and tells the Packers and Jets to settle this deal? I can see that happening. If they do I hope the Packers tell Goddell to go pound sand!

What? And miss the ratings ESPN and every other network would get for ten minutes of the Jets being on the clock?

If anything they’re going to tell both teams to take their time.

People wanting Garret Wilson in any trade are delusional. The Jets are dumb but they aren't that dumb.

As for Elijah Moore, it's a no from me. First sign of issues last year he had a falling out with the OC and wanted a trade. I don't want that type of player around whilst Love is finding his feet. If we need that type of player, find them in this years draft.

I reckon something like this is fair value for a trade

Rodgers + 2023 5th for 2023 2nd, 2023 4th, 2024 1st, 2024 3rd and Ruckert.

Assuming the Jets make the playoffs this year, this would value Rodgers at the equivalent of a top 10 pick
