The free agent CB class is nice.

But Massie and Leno cannot hold up in what the Chiefs, Eagles or Rams do on offense and the free agent class is horrendous.

Agree. But even if those teams don't help their OTs, any offensive mind worth a damn would know better than to just expect Massie to hold up against a good vet one on one all day. Either Shaheen will be chipping them or it will be a quicker timing route, otherwise Massie is going to look like Omiyale out there.

You can keep a back or two in the backfield and send them out on routes but not before they chip the end. There's ways to scheme protection.

You can chip, they don't really do it. When you chip you get out late, and these RBs are running legit routes.

Its like jamming yourself at the line.

Fox should be fired after this game so that for 3 games we can unleash Mitch and see if we can vault the coaching hire rankings.

Do you really think beating up on the Browns (assuming “unleashing” him leads to that) is going to move the needle with any potential future coaches?

Yes. I think seeing him take a step forward would be huge for coaches who may be on the fence.

I think 3 games is more than enough to pull someone towards the Bears who may have concerns about Luck's shoulder or Danrold's interceptions.

Onviosuly playing well against the Lions and Vikings would be a bigger deal.

It won't. The kid needs to have clean mechanics, work through his reads, step up in the pocket, and throw with accuracy and velocity.

The rest doesn't matter because this scheme is going to be trashed, as are the majority of Trubisky's targets.

It will.

The point would be that the system/game plan could change. We could see more RPO, more downfield throws and more spread hurry up passing. Also an increase is passinh volume would help.

May even allow you to showcase Shaheen and Cohen more so the offensive cupboard isn't as bare as it looks right now.

It will at a minimum answer the question about whether this offenses struggles are because Mitch is so limited in what he can do, or because John Fox is a conservative clown show.

We think it is Fox, but we are biased.

Does the rest of the NFL see it the same way that we do?

Yeah... Let's have Loggains install new packages (RPO) for the last 4 weeks of the season, with backups to backups playing, and while we're at it throw in more 7s to showcase our QB throwing down-field.

We'll be lucky if he doesn't die behind the line of scrimmage.

You don’t think the rest of the NFL already knows what Fox is, whether that lines up with what we think of him or not? He’s been in the league long enough that he’s probably worked with or for people on half the staffs in the league or more. The league knows Fox plenty well. Hell, enough people around the league know Loggains enough to probably have some insight on whether he’s getting to do what he wants to do on Sundays.

Real talent evaluators and coaches know what they’re seeing and what they’re not seeing from Trubisky in terms of what is transferrable to what they want to do. Some dog and pony showcase under Loggains with replacement level talent at WR is going to have minimal to no impact on that perception. Whether the candidates think he can read coverages, follow progressions yet, etc. they’re going to know that he’s still growing into those things as a rookie. Perceived deficiencies in his skill set aren’t going to be set in stone anyway. He’s obviously coachable and is a noted tireless worker in the weight and film rooms. With our offensive output you don’t win over the team as quickly as he has without those intangibles being strongly in place. His physical abilities are a known commodity already.

Agreed. People are overexaggerating this situation way too much.  No one should be worried about not getting good coaches to want to come here because of how this offense is performing right now. Talent is Talent. There is enough tape on Trubisky, Cohen and Shaheen to be able to see that.

It is all installed. They run them once in awhile and they work.

You can throw the ball downfield without jeopardizing his health. You just need to do it on 1st down, or short yardage situations or off play action.
