I was looking at our farm system and it makes me really want to sell at the deadline. I know it’s easier said than done.  I think we have the chance to be really good in 2023 if we sold. I’m still bullish on our depth in the low minors. We’ve got some really good potential hitters. I know they haven’t done well collectively but they’re still really young. I think we’ll have some decent pitching too. Oviedo and Rondon, plus I think Griffin Roberts will be a plus weapon out of the pen. If we could ditch a few of the older dudes, get a couple more good drafts, and our lower minors guys hit, we’ve got a really fun team. Big arms, big power, big athleticism.

Our farm system as a whole is rather weak.  Probably the weakest it's been in recent years.  And if the Cardinals have made Nolan Gorman and Dylan Carlson effectively off-limits in trade talks, then it's going to be hard to make a noteworthy deal.  Not sure you're going to get much of a deal headlined by Eleheuris Montero or Randy Arozarena.

Goold said today in his chat that Carlson is definitely off limits but made it seem like they’d deal Gorman in the right trade.

Apparently the Cardinals had a scout in Cincinnati tonight. Lets go get Amir Garrett! or maybe someone who hasn't really been talked about much, Sonny Gray. When he got traded to the Yankees a few years ago there was a rumor that the Cardinals offered the A's Piscotty + Weaver for Gray. So there has been interest there in the past.

Oh, I understand that. We don't have a lot to offer in terms of trades right now. I just like some of our minor league pieces for the future.

I think Carlson is one of those "upper level" good players for about 10 years. Maybe not a franchise cornerstone, but a Carpenter type. A really good second best option on an offense. I think someone from the Gorman and the lower minors gang will turn into a franchise type player.
