He had a nice career for us in his prime (when on the field, anyway), but now he's a declining wide receiver who was underwhelming in his first year there. A Patriots fan acquaintance of mine told me the other day that the Patriots signing Hopkins could result in Parker not making the team, being let go in final cuts (after complaining about him all last season). TheKillerNacho Posted June 29, 2023 Share Posted June 29, 2023 While the exact contract is not yet known, sources are saying this move should clear about $4M in cap space for the Patriots upon completion. Which means they may be doing this in part to make room for Hopkins (this should bring them up to approximately $19M in cap space, which would probably be the ballpark for a 1-year deal). Then again, they could've saved $6.2M simply by cutting him without having to guarantee a reported $14M over three seasons under this new contract.
