Like what we did this weekend a lot, but there are a few things we should look to address from here sooner than later IMO:

-Love to see us bring Ngakoue back or bring in Carl Lawson to bolster our pass rush with a little more known commodity while Booker develops.

-With more thought on the Taylor pick I like it more. We already have a top tier kicker. Adding a top tier punter (hopefully) on top of what is already a really good KR (Velus) in a year where KR should have more value and we could have one of the best ST units in the league. In close games that matters a lot.

-With that, who is our punt returner? As of today I’d guess it’s either Tyler Scott or Dante Pettis. I don’t love that at all. I’d like to see DeAndre Carter brought in. He can bring something as a WR5 too IMO.

-I’d like to see us get a more capable veteran QB to help Williams with the nuances of preparing like a pro. A trade with ATL for Taylor Heinicke would make a lot of sense to me. Cost should be minimal with them almost certainly looking to max out Penix’s reps behind Kirk, and his salary coming over would be basically league minimum. Bagent is fine as a caretaker on the field (I actually think he and Heinicke on the field would be about the same), but we’re not winning anything if our QB2 has got to play a lot, and I value the veteran presence in that role more with the rookie QB. Brett Rypien can help with the nuances of Waldron’s offense, but he doesn’t bring the veteran QB stuff to the table either.

A lot of valid points here...

I think offering something for Heinicke would be a great move...would be an ideal #2 here...if Nick Mullens is available at some point he is another guy who could be a system fit as an experienced back up...

I think we need to add a vet WR for depth since I am still not sold on Velus, Scott or Pettis if one of our starters go down...if that vet can also have punt return experience that would be great...Carter would make sense as competition for Pettis then I think we need a bigger body guy...don't think there is anyone out there right now who can be that true #4 IMO but with post draft cuts we should be able to convince someone to come here...

I wouldn't be a huge fan of bringing back Ngakoue...just don't think it worked for him here...Carl Lawson I like...Shaq Lawson could even make sense with the Eric Washington connection...again it will be really interesting to see who is cut from other teams post draft.

Coming from a Packer fan, I think you guys should be doing cartwheels. Williams was the no brainer of no brainers. Getting Odunze at 9 was a steal. I like the tackle too.

The Bears/Packer rivalry is officially back IMO. Vikings heading back to the basement where they belong!

Shaq Lawson has the connection, but Carl has far more pass rush production.

According to Over The Cap our rookie class will count for $14.26 million this coming year...

Leaves us with with just over $8 million to add some more vets before we need to start looking at restructures...got to think we approach Sweat & Edmunds about converting some of their money.

I have not seen a Bears offseason this good since the 80s.

The best QB in the draft and maybe the best in a decade or more, an elite "X" WR with versatility who could easily have been a top 5 pick in another draft, the best Punter in the draft and a kid who sounds like he could become a real defensive weapon.  If that's all we get out of this draft that would still rate an A+ in anyone's book.  I don't know how we could've done much better

Then add in using 3 draft picks on three vet starters with Sweat, Allen, and Bates and if that's not an ingenious use of draft picks allowing us to fill needs and get good faster I don't know what is.  There's not a single DE, WR or OC/OG we could've drafted with any of those picks who would help us more now and Sweat and Bates are still in their prime years while Allen is ageless.

And finally we get two really good prospects at key positions that are costly to sign in FA.  Amengadjie is a nice hedge against Jones topping out short of where we'd like him to be or a kid who can also be a very good prospect to play OG.  I could see an OL with Jones and Wright at OT and Jenkins and Amengadjie at OG or Wright moving to OG with Jones and Amengadjie at OT.

We badly needed to come away with a DE/Edge pass rush specialist and Booker is a kid so many thought would be an ideal for the role in 2024.  With a year of NFL nutrition, conditioning, and strength work he could easily add 15-20 lbs and play at 255-260lbs and maybe become the 2024 version of a Richard Dent.  He seems to love rushing the QB and penetrating into the backfield.

I don't concern myself with what other NFCN teams do.  It's our role to become their competition not the other way around and so far Poles and Co have done a great job of getting us aligned for that.  The NFCN should be very competitive again in 2024.

I gotta think a few players will be released soon giving them an opportunity to catch on somewhere and save us some cap.  Borom would be one ($3.1 mil saved), Gill ($965k saved).  Then possibly Homer ($1.9 mil saved), Blasingame ($1.6 mil saved).  There seems to always be a way to create more cap space to add a deal or two once it comes down to it.

Yeah no doubt there are moves to be made but with those two carrying such large cap hits it's time we start doing what competitive teams do and converting some of it in creative ways...we have just not seen it done for so long during this rebuild hahaha.
