If you speak of Jimmy Garoppolo for 2nd round pick, that is a wishful thinking.

Alex Smith was traded twice. He is a 10+ veteran. TB has at least 2 and 1/4 (3 years in your case) seasons in action.

Jacoby Brissett was traded to Colts for a player. whoever he is.

Trevor Siemian and late round pick are sent to Vikings for 2019 pick.

Really, nothing excites me about TB's trade value.

Your forgetting Sam Bradford as well.

If we were able, again not speculative as there are a ton ifs, to get 3rd to 5th round pick vs. letting him walk for nothing - you don't see value in that??

PS - thanks for proving the QB trade market is pretty strong lately.  lol

Mike Glennon.  Chase Keenum. Chase Daniel. Josh McCown. AJ McCarron.  Brian Hoyer. Brock Osweiler. Robert Griffin III.

They were nobodies but got handsome contracts.  Sam Bradford, Chase Keenun and Kirk Cousins are top money in 2018 alone.

2018 trade- Alex Smith.

2018 top FA- Sam Bradford, Chase Keenun and Kirk Cousins.    That is 3 to 1.:P.

Please don't ask me about 2019 because I know I will lose.

It's simple if Teddy plays great and starts the whole season and has a very good/great year BUT we think the rookie is ready take over next year then we franchise or transitional tag Teddy and trade him

If we don't think there rookie is ready we franchise and keep Teddy for 1 more year then trade him or sign him long term and trade the rookie who might have great value... Very similar to when chargers were developing Rivers behind Brees

This was my point.  Totally agree.

1. Chargers could afford to do that way because they got extra premium picks among Philip Rivers.

2. Chargers only had Brees and Rivers on the roster.  Volek was in and out.

3. McCown only signed the contract if he was promised to play a bunch of games.

4. Bridgewater is young and afford so he could improve his trade value with strong preseason performance.

5. McCown and Bridgewater didn't sign contracts with Jets to wipe #3 draftee' crack clean.

6. I can guarantee you that no team will trade anything more than 4th for Bridgewater if he is tagged after 2018.

7. Never mind if #3 is Josh Allen.

Speculation but if Teddy doesn't blow his knee out he's still a Viking. Kid has talent, he's healthy. We'll get something for him.

And we got Cousins.       Jimmy G was traded for 2nd round pick.  Bridgewater isn't in the same boat.

McCown was not promised to play at all he was simply told he was entering camp the starter which is just Bowles talk... Fact is for Bowles/Mac sake the rookie needs to be the#2 and get the reps and get developed

McCown is a 39 year old vet who didn't even need the preseason last year, in the Teddy tears it up scenario Josh was be the#3 and get no reps and still be able to step in and play if Teddy gets hurt

What is wrong with that?  4th > nothing

To public and media, it is a competition. McCown and Bates know each other from last year. He has strong character and work ethic. Bridgewater has those too but doesn't know Bates well.  That gives McCown an edge.
