Olave at 22 to replace Tae and Tyquan Thornton on day 3 to replace MVS.

I've no clue who Tyquan Thornton is....so how's about a read?

TDN:

Tyquan Thornton is a former 3-star recruit for the state of Florida. Thornton chose the Baylor Bears over other in-state schools such as Miami, Florida, and FIU. Thornton is a senior that struggled to see significant playing time until this year (2021). The 2021 season saw Thornton's production on the field skyrocket. Thronton finished the season with 60 receptions and 10 receiving touchdowns. Thornton showcases electric speed and can seemingly run past any defender that is put in his way. Thornton uses long strides to simply glide past defenders and uncover to make himself available for the quarterback. In the NFL, I believe Thronton will have instant value as a deep threat, and defenses will always have to account for where he is aligned because he is a big play waiting to happen.

Ideal Role: A vertical threat receiver / deep ball threat

Scheme Fit: Vertical offense

Route Running: Thornton is a high-waisted athlete that struggles to sink his hips on certain routes. Thornton can effectively sink his hips and work back to the receiver on curl routes and hitches, but struggles to run in-breaking routes with precision. He runs his best in-breaking routes when he gets off coverage and he can threaten the defenders vertically and then break inside to make himself open to the quarterback.

Hands: Thornton is comfortable catching the ball away from his body. He shows the ability to extend his arms and give himself a wide catch radius. But while attempting to catch a ball in traffic, Thornton elects not to extend himself and chooses to let the body get into his frame so he can secure the ball and protect himself.

Separation: This player has exceptional speed that is shown when he has to run deep routes. He has the down-the-field speed to simply run away from defenders and put distance between himself and the defender. He has an electric burst that allows him to separate easily and put defenders in complex situations.

Liked MVS in his role, but got no issue with letting him go.  Replaceable, but lack of Adams complicates it a little.  Confident the Packers will handle this in the draft or trade.  Regardless, it will take time for these new guys to get experience and on the same page with Rodgers.

Has AR regularly been attending OTA's?

Interesting sidenote to MVS leaving town. Of the 11 draft picks from Gutes first draft class with him as the top decision makers, 4 years later only Jaire Alexander remains. Not a great class for the Packers.

Stop.  What's the average career in the NFL? IIRC it's four years.

Folks sure love to hop on the misery train.  Give some context, compare to other clubs for that year. Could be it was a down year all around?  Part of that draft was getting the next years extra 1st round pick.  That count for anything?

Josh Jackson-Oren Burks-J'Mon Moore may be the worst 3 pick stretch by a Packers GM ever in terms of actual production (considering the rounds 2/3/4). Glad Gute has had better success since.

"Green Bay isn't a huge vacation destination, people are coming here to play with me..."

Ken Ingalls - Packers Cap -  3 wide receivers have willingly left the organization since Aaron Rodgers made these comments...

Adams gets paid and goes to play with Carr who is likely there for 5 years.  MVS signs for 3 years with the Chiefs and Mahomes isn't going anywhere.

Rodgers contemplating retirement every year has an impact on these things.

I feel like Mike Sherman will always win this with Carroll/Thomas/Washington/B.J. Sander.

Or maybe Wolf's last draft of Reynolds/Ferguson/Jue/Marshall.

It can't be an honest look at a year that just didn't work out? Context is that a team views a successful draft as one that creates 3 starts that are worth signing to second contracts. Those aren't my words, that is from Bill Polian, Pat Kerwin and TT themselves. After their rookie seasons I thought that group had a chance to exceed 3, but it was not to be. It happens, we can point these things out without it being a 'hop on the misery train'. Reality sucks sometimes, it's still reality.

Yep. With all those picks you'd hope to have some solid depth pieces still left at this point. At least the one hit he had was a big one with a top tier player at one of the more important positions in the sport. That helps carry it lol. His follow up drafts been better but even Gute seems like he can't avoid the 3rd round curse. That round has been a disaster for GB for years now
