Sooooooooooo....you're implying that #7 should be part of the discussion comparing 4 & 12?

Dude clearly doesn’t have any context of what Majik meant to Packers fans at the time. Obviously he wasn’t on their level but he was an MVP candidate at one point. He wasn’t a hooptie by any means.

I think they referenced Majik a bit....but the vast majority of the commentary (and its intent) was a comparison between Favre & Rodgers.

I stand corrected. I listened to it again and they dont mention Majik directly once.

A lot of that was short-term nostalgia. '92 Majik and his eroded-by-injury right arm were fathoms lower than '89 Majik at the peak of his career. It was one of the key reasons the team went 4-12 the year prior, as well as a key reason why he was only ever a fringe starter/relief QB for the rest of his career.

Still a pity he couldn't stick around.

The Majik Man was the best pick we had at QB since Bart Starr at that time. The guy could play and was very responsible as the QB and passing era was really coming under way.

Just my $.02 concerning Majik/Favre/Rodgers.

Majik needs to be mentioned.  He's a large part of the Favre story.  Majkowski signed a pretty large QB contract and then he was hurt...then Brett took over.  We had a very high paid holder and backup QB.  And?  We knew he could run an offense.  Brett remembered how he got that job...injury.  And that was a large reason why he always played, even when hurt.  He didn't want to be on the other side of that story, as he saw it play out.

For everything that Brett did, one of his most impressive streaks was and is his Ironman streak.  297 consecutive games.  We can debate whether or not he should have sat down a few times, but the fact is, Brett played because he remembered how he got his job.  And he didn't want history to repeat itself.

Rodgers was in the same boat.  He remembered how he got his job.  He saw Love get drafted.  History repeating itself again.

So Majik should always have a small part in those conversations.

I'm absolutely a "wins are a team stat" person until you see a situation like Mankowski - he was something like 19-18-1 as a starter from 87-90, everyone else they trotted out was 5-18 (and two of the wins were strike QB Alan Risher).

And 12 of those losses were from Randy Wright.

Can we put dropped Ints as a category too as well?
