Knockin' on Valhalla's Door

As NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported, the league fined Stefon Diggs $10,609 for unsportsmanlike conduct in the season opener. The incident took place after Diggs beat Ramsey for a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, a play that put the Bills up by three scores. Diggs motioned toward Ramsey while celebrating the touchdown, though referees didn’t throw a flag on the play itself.

So far this season, things aren’t going that great for Kyle Rudolph in his time with the Bucs. The former Vikings tight end hasn’t even been on the field for a snap yet this year as he’s been a healthy scratch in both of Tampa Bay’s first two games.

Rudolph signed a one-year deal with the Bucs in July worth $2 million. The contract included $1.5 million in fully guaranteed money, so it is a little surprising that Tampa Bay hasn’t had him active yet this season.

This past Monday, five former Vikings were nominated for the Hall of Fame: Randall Cunningham, Matt Birk, Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, and Gary Anderson.

Jared and Kevin will both make it eventually. Gary should, but I don’t think he ever will.

If Randall had never blown out his knee, I think he would have been a Hall of Famer. Changed the game.

Birk was very good for a long time. But there are many better than him that won’t ever get in. He also had some great linemates that made his job a lot easier.

Think Allen is the only one here with enough name recognition to get in. Williams deserves it but I feel like he will easily be overlooked. Think his career is very similar to Richard Seymour’s but Seymour obviously had that post season success that elevated his legacy.

Birk was good too but Center gets overlooked and there were better ones the past 20 years so can’t say he really stood out against his peers.

I only saw the tail end of Anderson and Cunningham career but would assume no to those guys too.

Kevin Stefanski is the 12th head coach of the Cleveland Browns since the franchise re-entered the NFL as an expansion team in 1999. And he’s the first of those 12 to earn three wins over the Steelers.

Seems he lucked into playing the Steelers with washed up/retired Big Ben.

At a time when some keep complaining that the media isn’t aggressively covering the ongoing welfare-money scandal involving Brett Favre, the media is aggressively covering the ongoing welfare-money scandal involving Brett Favre.

Tonight, NBC Nightly News had another item focused on the scandal and Favre’s role in it. The story focuses on the latest round of text messages that have been released via court filings. The texts suggest that Favre was aware of legality concerns regarding his ongoing effort to get federal welfare funds for purposes unrelated to helping the poor.

Although Favre has not yet been accused of criminal wrongdoing, SiriusXM has put his radio show on hold, joining ESPN Milwaukee. Also The33rdTeam.com has paused Favre’s relationship with the site.

If this doesn't end with Favre and Phil Bryant in prison, it's a sham.

I'm not sure whether Favre was actually aware of the legality, but he certainly was aware of the PR problems it would cause.  And that was where he went tremendously wrong, and should have stopped there.  Ultimately though, it was the governor who succumbed to the pressure that Favre put on him and said yes to the plan that had been hatched by some of his other people in the government. He had the ultimate authority.
