The guy who was at one point going to be his safeties coach won't be his safeties coach. There's almost no way Brown will be here. And the coaching staff as a whole is very clearly up in the air. With that uncertainty + his dad being a Michigan State alum, can't say it's surprising. Curious to see the outcome of Harbaugh's call tonight. At the end of the day, though, they've got to sort out what the hell they're going to do, and that's bigger than any recruit. If he committed tomorrow, he'd probably still be on shaky ground until Signing Day in December 2021 until they shored up the coaching staff and turned things around. Agreed. No reason to blame the kid and it’s way bigger than him, the entire process is just frustrating. Especially if Harbaugh does get the extension, we now have to try and flip a kid that would already be committed if the extension came around a month ago. I’m instead going to get irrationally excited about a potential brawl between Sam Webb and EJ Holland at Donovan Edwards announcement, but I don’t think EJ wants that smoke. Since we aren’t allowed to link to other message boards, I would recommend googling “So 247 reject EJ Holland wants my attention” That should take you where you want to go. JammerHammer21
Michigan makes it out of NSD with only two losses to the class and getting a guy who wasn't planning on signing today to sign. Pretty solid overall. Now it gets interesting
winitall
Just for fun, some grades on the recruiting class as it stands today. Overall: B. The offensive side is fantastic and they did as well as they probably could given the circumstances, but the defensive class is yikes in some spots. QB: A+. Five star QB that could be a superstar. Can't get any better than that. RB: A. Got a legit top 5 back that is a borderline 5* in Donovan Edwards. Love landing Dunlap as well, he is the perfect complement to Edwards/Corum and is a really good player in his own right. WR: A-. Worthy is a five star WR, I don't care what anyone else says. Anthony and Dixon should be good players although maybe not super exciting. Still don't really get letting Markus Allen go but whatever. TE: B. Hansen is a nice player but might not be a guy that is ever all-conference IMO. Would have really loved to land another TE in this class given how few they have signed over the last couple cycles. OL: B+. Waffled between B+ and B on this the most. Great to have a top-100 guy in El-Hadi that should be a top-tier LT hopefully. Hard not to be excited about both Crippen and Anderson given their abilities on the interior. Both seem like a sure bet to be multi-year starters and Anderson screams team captain. Bounds is a nice lottery ticket. Hard not to be disappointed though given some of the other guys they were in on throughout the class. DL: C-. Barely passing. Doesn't feel like we really got a single difference maker on the DL this cycle when we really could have used one. I feel confident that Guy will be a decent player but he doesn't scream disrupter IMO. Bennett probably has the most potential but who knows how high that ceiling is and if he will reach it. Giudice has grown on me but I still don't see anything more than rotational DT. If they can somehow flip Benny this group easily jumps to a C+. Just a lack of difference makers limits the ceiling on how high I can grade this group. LB: B+. Colson is the stud in the group and easily a top 100 player. Hopefully he can come in and contribute quickly. Hood has a lot of potential but isn't a sure bet. Like McLaurin as well but he is a bit of an unknown for me. Group would have really benefited from an additional top-tier guy given the overall need at the position. DB: C. Finishing ahead of DL but barely. I'm a big fan of McBurrows given things seemed to really click for him this year. Keeping him was huge for the class. Rod Moore seems like a sure bet to end up being a starting safety at some point. Just can't grade the group higher when the group as a whole struggled so much this season and they literally took 2 guys. Feel like this needed to be a class with 4 guys with 2 needing to be top-150ish types. Specialist: A. Literally just including this to hit on every scholarship recruit. Doman should be very good. Would pretty much agree, though I might drop DB a little bit because the players are good, but they only have 2. Could definitely use a CB more than a safety overall. Seems like they were worried about Allen's shoulder, and he's a bit redundant with Dixon and Anthony being similar types of receivers, but I do think he can be a solid player at Wisconsin
