Based on those scores, there are four players that are significantly better than the rest of what's available: Maurice Hurst, Tim Settle, Deon Cain, and Ian Thomas.

Hurst is slipping due to his heart murmur. Settle would make a lot of sense here had the Redskins not drafted Payne.

So, purely from a value perspective, Cain and Thomas?

Yes, they still need a left guard (I'm a bit dubious of moving Nsekhe inside and it would likely only be a short term gain due to Ty's age) so a guy like Crosby makes sense. Also could look to a corner.

Side note that perhaps only interests me: as it stands right now, the Redskins have only two of their natural picks in this entire draft: 13, and 231 (their 7th).

I know you said that but Hogan sucks. Rudolph hasn't had the chance to suck yet. We already know what Colt and Hogan are. They had a chance to improve the most important position on the team and future protect it. They chose to take a back up OL instead. I'm not mad but acting like we can't take a QB because of Hogan is absolutely ridiculous.

You obviously miss the point. Get over yourself and look at this from a business standpoint. You know we are comfortable going into the season with 2 QBs on the active roster. We traded for a 3rd QB. We traded for our starting QB. We have our starter locked up for LONGER than any rookie contract. Why would you draft a project QB when you already did that with Hogan?

it just doesn’t make any sense. No reason to get upset they didn’t draft a QB when it logically doesn’t make sense.

I don’t need to “get over myself”. Hogan is camp fodder, nothing more. The Browns literally gave him away. Colt is terrible. If Smith goes down we have nothing. It would be absolutely no different than what we did when we took Kirk. It’s an actual insurance policy.

If you take Rudolph and sit him for three years and then cut Smith to get out of his contract, you have a 25-year old developed QB with a year left on his contract. I’m not mad they didn’t take him, I just think it would’ve been a better pick than what we got.

For me if Hurst is available by the time we pick, you draft him. When he gets healthy he will be the perfect rotation guy with Allen and Ioanidis. We could also cut our dead weight.

He doesn't fit our 3-4 Defense at all, he'd be limited to nickle and dime sets only.  He's a good pass rusher though, it wouldn't be a terrible pick but I think we could use some more depth in the secondary personally.

Thanks Woz, awesome list you put together. Here is my big board for our next pick:

1. Maurice Hurst, I just don’t know how you pass on him in round 4. As a situational interior pass rusher he’d be amazing.

2. Da’Shawn Hand, again, late 1st or 2nd round talent, hard to pass on him. Also has chemistry w/ Allen & Payne.

3. Deon Cain, he’s a stud and unlike the other stud wr available, he doesn’t have off the field issues.

4. Kyzir White, he’ll be a special teams demon, great depth and can take over for Swearinger eventually.

5. Parry Nickerson - we could use more young depth at corner developing behind Norman and Scandrick

6. Anthony Averett -  “

7. Tim Settle, more beef in the middle rotating w/ Payne can’t hurt

8. Crosby - it goes w/o saying that we need more talent/better competition at guard beyond Scherff.

9. Tony Adams - “

10. Daesean Hamilton - Mark Bullock says he’s one of the best route runners in the draft, I trust Mark as much as anyone

11. Equanimeous St. Brown - you can’t go wrong with enormous size, athletic ability and good hands at WR. As someone else said he’s a prototypical Gruden type WR. Gruden likes his wrs big and athletic like Doctson.

12. Amari Watts - a pure FS, we need depth behind Nicholson. Hopefully Nicholson stays healthy this year but we can’t expect that.

I still don’t understand why we gave up one of our fifth round picks when we dealt back?

We moved back yes and got a late second, but we also got the 10th pick in the 3rd which is worth more than we’d usually get by trading back in round 2. We ended up with 3 picks in the top 75, which we wouldn’t have had even if we hadn’t traded for Alex Smith.

Just think about it for a second. We just turned our 3rd we lost in the Alex Smith trade into a higher 3rd round selection than what would’ve been our natural pick and still got a starting running back.

Then, we drafted an OT who could develop into Trent Williams’ eventual replacement in 4 years or so.

Sounds like a good trade to me, and a great draft so far.

But you don’t want players sitting, or is that only for non-QBs? Colt is not terrible, he’s not great, but surely capable of leading the team to some victories especially if our running game and D are improved if he had to. For all we know Rudolph is the next Brandon Weedon and a bust qb from OK St which does run a very, very simple passing system.  Hogan isn’t camp fodder, he has some talent.
