2018 NFL DRAFT DISCUSSION

Looks like NFL teams are starting to jack my “chase KRs as WRs” approach. Packers and Steelers have been doing it for years (you’re welcome for Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, etc) but with guys like Moore and Chark and Pettis and Coutee and Calloway getting their names called earlier than many expected during the season — it looks like others are joining them.

  1. Not a fan of the pick for Apke. There were higher need/value pairings that we should have considered.
  2. Glad to see we continue the tradition of getting our pick wiped out for a commercial break.

Lauletta to the Giants. That's a bit of a surprise.

I love it, it means they’ve wasted a pick on one of the two QBs they’ve taken the last two years.

My guess is Gettleman wants his own young qb to develop and not Jerry Reese’s.

Overview

Apke's production in key indicators for the position, like ball production and tackle consistency, are lacking. With just one year as a full-time starter, there simply isn't enough impressive tape to get excited about. He has decent size and could put together a solid workout, but may not offer enough range in coverage or thump as a tackler to ever be a full-time contributor. Apke may need to find his niche on special teams to earn any early playing time.

Did you just glaze over the “ALMOST!” My gosh how ridiculous did you take my post out of context.

Lol.  That's literally 3 out of the past 4 drafts.  And that's only because we didn't have a 4th round pick in 2016.

Dumb pick here honestly. Could have gotten him in round 6 or 7

I feel the same way, but there’s no guarantee of that. I would have rather had one of the DE/DTs available, or a young OL but it’s hard to pass up on Apke’s athleticism and upside at the position.
